I will also have to give another report of ‘how did it go’ concerning the current pitching and grant pursuit. Many have been able to accumulate so many votes and while I still wait to reach 50 persons at least, not even ALL have been able to meet up with criteria. I still remain very positive; as I said, this will be for the latter.
Yesterday was me and the market. I had to go out to source for the right product and it can be very time consuming. The advice here; ‘make sure you charge customers for quality time. From a sunny day the weather changed entirely and this was when I just reached the second place.
Let me rewind back to how I was strategizing. I had three main places to reach in the process. The idea was to compare prices. Sometimes customers can feel cheated if you don't play your own part right and the fact of the matter is that, you got dubbed of a less quality material.
I reached the first place and the price was as I had expected. I made a bargain to drop the price and well, it wasn't that bad. I was still much reliant on a far distance client I had called who had pegged the sale on a much lesser price. The issue was about her having just the right material color or something close.

I had to take some material samples there for the sake of quality. My next place was to reach out to an affiliate who can give me quality embroidery on a material. It was also about a price bargain. I had gotten the embroidery price qr a higher one. There was not much difference, some few thousand naira of which I knew the former is much more durable than the latter.
Two things concluded so I stepped out and that was when the rain pulled a stunner and well, I knew I will have to reach where I am going moving through some shallow waters that will be running through the market. Secondly, it will be difficult to source for the right product after the rain. Sellers will be folding and very uneager to unfold after the rain when the market selling time is almost elapsing.
And just as I expected after I fortunately jumped into the bus to the main market. I had to wait outside with an entrance fruit seller; her big umbrella shade was very helpful to while away the rain pour. Some minutes later when it was just drizzling I had to find my way out and ahh!! I need to buy a portable bag for someone in the process. I quickly checked around and I finally met someone.
When a seller starts with the price before the product, you know what it means. As I had earlier said, he wasn't too interested in reopening his packed bags. Finally he didn't even have it for sale but reached out to his neighbor. Let's not go far on this. A deal was struck, a transaction made and NOW, we head to the main event.
My client was surprised to see me matching through the running water to reach her office. Why did you come NOW, she asked? Didn't I tell her I was coming and I can't afford to turn back because the next day will be another busy one for me. She had to help me source for quality. Another take home; most times people buy price instead of quality. When you see a matured material for a perfect sewing but you can't buy courtesy of ‘it is cheap’.
My client must have been surprised by my integrity in the process. There was much profit left in-between but no, I have both personal and brand integrity to protect
To conclude, let me add, that was how it went. I could not find a matching color in our place although I bought another material there for another separate job. I had to return to the earlier place to purchase from them. Ok, let me close the curtain here. That's all folks.
