Hey everyone! Today I’m bringing you some GOW screenshots. Without a doubt, this game has one of the best photo modes out there, not to mention all the incredible landscapes and scenery it offers. These shots are specifically from the second game—Ragnarök.
A while back, I shared some images from this game that Santa Monica Studios released for fans to celebrate the series' 20th anniversary. If you'd like to see them again, you can check out my related post. Those images look like concept art, but they aren’t; they were created using the game’s excellent photo mode tools.
Just like in many other games with a built-in capture system, you can actually change Kratos' expression in GOW. As you can see in the shots around this paragraph, in one of them his expression is more deadpan and mocking, while the other leans more toward pure arrogance.
These captures were taken right after epic battles against massive beasts, so being a little cocky after winning is well-deserved. That’s something I love about this game—the bosses are majestic. It's the way the developers put Kratos' strength into perspective, having him face off against colossal dragons, wolves, snakes, and giants.
Even though it’s not an open world, everything in GOW feels massive. It’s awesome traveling through the different realms and finding such stunning creatures and locations. Plus, all that Norse mysticism and fantasy creates these spectacular color palettes. One minute you’re in Helheim—the underworld where everything has a green tint—and the next you’re in a much more colorful and vibrant Asgard.
One of the most spectacular moments is when it’s finally time to unleash Ragnarök. Surtr, the fire giant and ruler of Muspelheim, is the one tasked with bringing chaos to Asgard. For now, I could only salvage two shots from the start of that sequence. I’m hoping to sort out some technical issues soon so I can read my other drives where I have the rest of that moment saved, and I'll share it here so you can see just how epic it gets.
