How to Make a Creative Mini Book + The Vowel Train 🚂🎨 (Preschool Activity)
Hello, friends! 👋✨
Today I want to share a project with you as part of our school activities for Book Day, which was celebrated on April 23. It’s a creative mini book made with just two sheets of paper—a wonderful technique because it doesn’t require glue or staples to assemble.
The best part of this craft is that it’s a blank canvas. Although I used it for a school project, you can adapt it for any story, mini photo album, or journal. It’s super versatile and easy to make!
Materials we used:
- 2 white sheets of paper.
- Scissors.
- Crayons and markers.
- Recycled materials for decorating (scraps of foam, recycled cardboard, and creativity 😅).
In the video I’m showing you, I walk you through the step-by-step process of how to make it.
And while I took care of shaping the book, writing the story, and sketching the drawings, my son was the main artist. He was in charge of bringing life and color to each page, which made him feel like an important part of the process and got him much more excited about reading and learning.
A Story to Learn: “The Choo-Choo Train” 🚂 and the Vowels
Here’s the story we included in the book, designed to help children learn the vowels in a fun and engaging way:
-Once upon a time, there was a train that went choo-choo! At the first station, the letter A got on—she loves to sing. The train continued on its way, and at the next stop, two more friends got on: the letter E and the letter I.
Then, at another station, the letter O and the letter U got on. With all the vowels now on board, the train happily arrived at school! All the vowels got off and started singing together: A, E, I, O, U!*(Repeat A, E, I, O, U 🥁🪈)
Finally, the Choo-Choo train said goodbye, very happy. And that’s the end of the story!
What did you think of this idea? Sometimes we think we need to spend a lot to make educational materials, but with a couple of sheets of paper and a lot of imagination, we can create incredible tools for our children. I loved watching my son paint each train car and seeing how he now identifies the vowels with more excitement because he helped create his own book.

Cómo hacer un Mini Libro Creativo + El Tren de las Vocales 🚂🎨 (Actividad de Preescolar)

Hoy les quiero compartir un proyecto, En el marco de las actividades escolares por el Día del Libro ,que se celebró el 23 de Abril. Se trata de un Mini libro creativo hecho con solo dos hojas de papel; una técnica maravillosa porque no necesita pegamento ni grapas para formarse.
Lo mejor de esta manualidad es que es un lienzo en blanco. Aunque yo lo usé para un proyecto escolar, ustedes pueden adaptarlo para cualquier historia, mini álbum de fotos o diario de notas. ¡Es súper versátil y fácil de hacer!
Materiales que utilizamos:
- 2 hojas blancas.
- Tijeras.
- Colores y marcadores.
- Materiales de provecho para decorar (retazos de foami, cartón reciclado y creatividad 😅).
En el vídeo que les muestro les enseño el paso a paso de como hacerlo .
Y Mientras yo me encargué de darle forma al libro, escribir la historia y hacer los bocetos de los dibujos, mi hijo fue el artista principal. Él se encargó de darle vida y color a cada página, lo cual hizo que se sintiera parte importante del proceso y se emocionara mucho más por la lectura y el aprendizaje.
Un cuento para aprender: "El Tren Chuchú" 🚂 y las Vocales
Aquí les comparto el cuento que incluimos en el libro, diseñado para que los niños aprendan las vocales de forma dinámica:
-Había una vez un tren que hacía :chuchú! y en la primera estación se subió la letra A, a quien le encanta cantar. El tren siguió su camino y en la siguiente parada se subieron dos amigas más: la letra E y la letra I
Luego, en otra estación, se subieron la letra O y la letra U. ¡Ya con todas las vocales a bordo, el tren llegó feliz a la escuela! Todas las vocales se bajaron y empezaron a cantar juntas: ¡A, E, I, O, U!*(Se repite el A,E,I,O,U 🥁🪈)
Finalmente, el tren Chuchú se despidió muy contento. ¡Y colorín colorado, este cuento se ha acabado!
¿Qué les ha parecido esta idea? A veces pensamos que para hacer materiales didácticos necesitamos gastar mucho, pero con un par de hojas y mucha imaginación podemos crear herramientas increíbles para nuestros niños. Me encantó ver a mi hijo pintar cada vagón del tren y cómo ahora identifica las vocales con más emoción gracias a que él mismo ayudó a crear su propio libro.
