Description from Strava:
A rare treat today, its a bank holiday weekend, and the sun has made an appearance
its been pretty chilly the past couple of months, but it looks like someone finally had enough and turned the heating up, we've got a surprise heatwave this weekend.
Knowing that is was forecast to be warm, I made an effort to try and get the long run done and out of the way before the heat got too much... in the end I was out the door by 9:30am, which was better than recent weeks, but it was already feeling a tad warm!
meandering past Boultham Park, this feels lovely and quiet, amazing considering the busy High Street, is less than 400m away on the right hand side
Last week I ran approx 20km, so todays run needed to be longer (to keep progressing and improving). I picked out a route that heads out to Skellingthorpe, and then returns via Birchwood Avenue. I've done this once before back in March, so about time I did it again.
Brayford Pool, near the centre of Lincoln
following the fossdyke to head out of town
Loads of poeple out and about this Sunday morning, running, cycling, dog walking, or just couples out and enjoying the sunshine.
the smooth wide tarmac path was reduced to a little muddy footpath, the bridge in the distance marks the turning point, as I will use this to take a left and head towards the village of Skellingthorpe
on the bridge along side the A46 bypass, usually a very busy road, but slightly quieter on a Sunday!
making the most of the rare bits of shade, even at 11am, it was already over 21C and starting to feel very warm indeed!
After the quiet footpaths, to get to skellingthorpe, it was time to join back on to the roads, to head back towards Lincoln
There was time for a well earned ice cream, before heading for a much needed shower. For the rest of the afternoon I will be staying inside to keep cool (plus I've got some cleaning and tidying to do) and then I will be moth trapping tonight... conditions are certainly much, much better than they were 2 weeks ago!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)
