Hi I'm Danny! I'm travelling around the world! Follow me.
Today we made our way to one of the rivers close to the lodge that was home to the much feared fresh water fish the Piranaha.
Piranhas have one of the most powerful bites of all fish, and with that they are incredible predators. They are indigenous to the many rivers that cover The Pantanal. We went down to the river to do some fishing..
I have absolutely no idea how to fish - I've never been able to get the hang of it... but with Piranha you don’t need any skills at all.
You dangle the wire with a tiny bit of meat and the Piranha go absolutely crazy attacking the meat. It’s without doubt the easiest fishing I’ve ever done.
Once we caught them we made a little fire and cooked the fish. It was quite bony but the meaty flesh is very tasty.
For anyone wondering - we didn’t take a swim in this particular river!
