A 35mm B&W film shoot, based on the contrasting textures and the simple moody beauty of Urban Decay, developed and printed by me in the dark room.
Living in dense urban spaces, I often use my feet to get around. I love the action of moving this way in the city and often take off from the beaten path for variety.
These images are meant to be seen as a chapter or a series. Not bombastic, instead subtle and dynamic in the small details and contrasts.
These are all part of a slightly larger series, I feel that showing 7 images is the right number to share today. I find that these 35mm shots speak with a very different voice than do my digital shots. In fact this project has moved into color and digital for various reasons now, so I am happy to be able to share these 35mm images today. (I will post a selection from my final color series in a few weeks or so)
These are scans of the negatives. In scanning some richness and detail was lost (I have much to learn about scanning) I am still grateful for the scanner and being able to share them this way.
All images shot in Minneapolis, MN. The camera used is an old Canon EOS 35mm with a Sigma zoom. They have been primarily shot on old Czech film I bought from Freestyle Photographic Supply (check them out).
***I included a picture at the bottom, of a 12x18" draft print of one image with today's date taped to it. Just in case...
