Originally the plan was to go hiking at Helen Lake, Banff National Park, however, due to the weather not being very cooperative, we opted to not travel quite so far. About half way between Calgary and Banff is Kananaskis Country. I've only been out there once, so thought maybe it was time for a second visit.
Kananaskis is known for its golf course, horse back riding, cross country skiing and hiking trails. We did some light hiking around the lodge first, just for a warmer upper, then headed for the Troll Falls trailhead (as was recommended by the lodge concierge). The hike itself was about a 2 hour round trip, and would be classified as "easy" and definitely well worth the time spent, eventhough the weather wasn't the best!
