The path to Crandell Lake involved first some elevation gain, approximately 125 metres or so, followed by elevation loss of about half that as you approach the lake. Not typical really. Most hikes generally do not have both elevation gain and notable loss. Pretty cool actually to do one of these, as it adds a different flavour or variance to the experience.
