I've been working with #ecency for quite some time now. One of my biggest stepping stones was being selected as a translator. I admit it was originally all about profit, as I get to make progress post and earn an upvote as "payout". Who would think they can be an online translator and earn crypto payout? Mind you it wasn't all the way smooth sail. Learning how to adapt and improvise in the translator world is one of the major surviving skill. There are things that doesn't jive if the language changed, such as "open" the window 😅 in Chinese, it can literally mean open the window 🪟
I must say, it was a tough one as there's many Chinese translator out there did a pissed poor job to the Chinese translation to the app(probably Google translating directly and then copy pasta to the translation output), it's so difficult to repair a translation then translating from its original language. Especially Chinese is probably from alien planet, if the translation screwed up, I will have to look up for the slot front he English database, where I have absolutely know nothing about wat that column does to the app.
Fast forward to a couple of years later, I took on curator role. From there, I started to learn. Learn how to be a community curator. Learn to NOT self vote. But ofcourse, the community doesn't stop me from doing that. And if I use my curation towards my own benefit, that leave me a huge opening for criticism. It was a huge struggle during that time when I am having a huge dilemma if there's no one else would vote for me, especially my fellow "colleagues"
As I grow older and having more experience in community curation, I started to understand this kind of dilemma will never end if I do NOT stop looking at the amount of "profit" I'm getting back from what I did to the community. Someone gotta step up and take up the responsibility, and I know that person is me. I learn to spread my votes so the community curation program can be continued and I will be able to continue to vote for more users, good content that will nourish the community instead of AI spam.
So, if you seen me vote for 100% on your post, chances are it's really that good that I'm enjoying it so much, or my finger slipped 🤣 I usually lazy to adjust the voting weight as well, I sometimes I will just make a few full votes and call it a day if I'm not in the mood for doing a full curation for hours. And I would also like to tell you, if you get a 20% vote from me, that's not because I don't like your post. I have active 10k HP standing by and my community vote is following behind. 20% simply means I am doing my job and a supporting you. I hope you can understand and not taking it personally. If you don't like my 20%, you may leave me a message. I won't take back what I've voted(unless I'm absolutely sure if I wrongly voted for a plagiarized content). Do tell me if you prefer to see me vote you 100%, but of course I will NOT be able to do it as often as I used to, so I can conserve my energey and voting for others.
