Recuerdo que cuando era niño las cosas eran muy distintas. De niño tenía varios amigos de aquí de mi urbanización siendo mis vecinos que cada tarde nos poníamos a correr, a jugar fútbol, se inventaba cualquier juego simplemente con la imaginación, donde las risas y las peleas nunca faltaban, además las carreras en bicicleta y la emoción de saber que cada día se iba a disfrutar como niños. Para ese tiempo a uno de amigos le dieron ese pequeño carro cómo sale en la foto y fue lo mejor para todos, ya que primero era la sensación de lo moderno que era, lo rápido que iba y la diversión era genial donde todo era juego y desafío.

I remember that when I was a kid, things were very different. As a child, I had several friends from my neighborhood—my neighbors—and every afternoon we’d go out running, playing soccer, or making up games using nothing but our imaginations. There was never a shortage of laughter or squabbles, not to mention bike races and the thrill of knowing that every day we’d get to enjoy ourselves like kids. Back then, one of my friends got that little car you see in the photo, and it was the best thing for all of us. First, there was the thrill of how modern it was, how fast it went, and the fun was amazing—everything was a game and a challenge.

Ahora diez años después y exactamente hace unos días nos volvimos a reunir las mismas personas que están en la primera foto, pero ahora de una manera distinta, todos más grande, cada uno trabaja y lo curioso es que nos reunimos fue para jugar, ya que el juego siempre nos ha unido. Donde el juego cambió en vez de ser carreras en la calle, ahora se juega carta, siendo un momento más pausado y tranquilo. Allí lo que permanece intacto es el grupo, el lazo que hemos creado con el timepo, donde ya somos como hermanos y aunque el juego sea distinto, sigue presente la diversión.

Es curioso cómo la vida va cambiando las cosas y uno se tiene que ir adaptando a ella, y allí el ejemplo de un simple juego que antes eran carreras como locos, ahora son cartas sobre la mesa, pero lo que uno cambiará son las fotografías y esos momentos que siempre voy a recordar por ser una gran etapa de mi vida. Además, el tiempo pasa y uno se da cuenta de las amistades que se van creando, algunas van y otra viene, pero este grupo de amigos es pequeño y con la cantidad de años que han pasado siguen allí, logrando mantener esa tradición de poder jugar y así poder sacar eso niño interior de competir, de reírse y siempre querer ganar todo.

Now, ten years later—and just a few days ago—the same people in that first photo got together again, but this time in a different way: we’re all older, we all have jobs, and the funny thing is that we got together to play, since games have always brought us together. The game has changed—instead of street races, we now play cards, making for a more relaxed and peaceful time. What remains unchanged is the group—the bond we’ve built over time, where we’re now like siblings—and even though the game is different, the fun is still there.

It’s funny how life keeps changing things and you have to keep adapting to it. Take, for example, a simple game that used to involve racing around like crazy—now it’s just cards on the table. But what will remain are the photographs and those moments that I’ll always remember as a wonderful chapter of my life. Besides, time passes and you realize the friendships that form—some come and go—but this group of friends is small, and even after all these years, they’re still there, managing to keep up that tradition of playing together and bringing out that inner child who loves to compete, laugh, and always want to win everything.

Estas son fotos muy especiales que siempre voy a recordar y conservar, además son fotografías perfectas para conectar el ayer con el hoy, mostrando que siempre habrá amistades que valen la pena quererlas como es ese grupo de amigos, donde todo cambia, pero no cambia el grupo que decidió crecer unido, ser buenos vecinos y seguir creando muchas más aventuras, compartiendo la vida, un recuerdo y una risa a la vez.
