This is an overdue post I told I would be sharing about some 2 weeks ago but never got the time to share.
Two weeks ago after I cooked for the first time in a while, I revamped my cooking journey again and I decided to learn to fry yam. I know, lame. But it’s really not cos it was my first time.
Ingredients
- Frying Oil (Frytol)
- Tuber of Yam
- Tomatoes
- Onions
- Egg
- Groundnut paste powder
- Salt
Process

First things first, I cut my tuber of yam into two to make it easier to peel(slice). I’m put my finger there to give you a perspective of how big the yam is. It wasn’t that big as you can see from the picture.

After cutting it into pieces, I peeled it next. This took a while, because this was my first time peeling yam.

After peeling, I sliced each of the halves into 4 quarters, and I sliced each of the quarters into small pieces. All of this was to help me cut the yam into small pieces eventually so that frying it will be easy.

Next, I washed the yam twice. The first wash was obviously dirtier, followed by a rinse which was relatively cleaner.

Then I heated my Frytol until it was hot and I launched my yam in. This was where the frying started.

I fried the yam in two batches. Because this was my first time, the first batch I fried got burnt. Again. I know.

I was more careful with the second batch though so that came out looking good. You can see the difference in the bowl here.

Then onto preparing my egg, I sliced my tomato and onions, added my egg in, and beat to mix the yolk uniformly. The egg came out looking a bit puffy. A later realized that was because I fried it in excess oil: yeah, the same amount of oil I used to fry my oil. Big mistake. Still came out eatable though.

Final thing was preparing the groundnut paste powder. This actually come almost prepared from the market. I just needed to add a little more salt because I wasn’t satisfied with how salty it was.

And voila! I served myself. This is my favorite part of the process.

Last time I posted about my cooking, tagged
to learn from my cooking, so I’m tagging him directly myself this time. Sorry bro, but you gotta come check my shit out.😂
