Hello hivers, welcome back again my weekly Splinterlands Post. As usual, during Weekends, I am delivering my Splinterlands post as my last participation in Splinterlands Social Media Challenge!. As today topic I want to discuss about Martyr ability.
Most people when talk about Martyr, they will share their battles which we will see big monsters get super power up , or double strike monsters get massive hit from the Martyr's boost. Now that's leave one big question, will martyr work well in Little League Ruleset?
PICKING THE MARTYR
shoten lore: Venari marksrats spend more time in the forests than they do underground. Most of it is taken with hunting and foraging, with marksrats being the main food gatherers for the venari colonies that inhabit the upperdark caverns of the Realm of Silence.
Venari Marksrat is my favorit Martyr monster. This rat is weak, maybe the weakest among all martyrs available out there and that's why I love him so much. For me. the sooner martyr dies, the better he performs in that battle.
But that's my approach, I don't know how others might think about this however I am pretty confidence that majority of players think the same way as me.
So if you have different idea, please share on comments below later. I might think about it for sure and maybe find a good battle that can represent it later one day.
THE BATTLE
I think this battle is one of the best choice to exploit Martyr ability. Target Practice Ruleset will make every long range attacker in opponent side aim the first non melee unit in my team, who is Venari Marksrat.
My only question is who will be my tank and my 3rd position who will get boosted by Venari Marksrat when he dies...
So here was my plan:
| Position | Card | Ability | Plan and Strategy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Summoner | +1 magic damage | I like Obsidian a lot, she becomes everyone favorit in Modern Format, well of course we need to put Legendary Summoners aside first. Her +1 magic damage becomes a signature traits for Chaos Legion Earth Element. Whenever you meet or you use Earth Element in Modern format battle, a magic focused team is what will be perceived or anticipated |
The Tank
| Position | Card | Ability | Plan and Strategy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main Tank | Heal | I believe in long run Xenith Monk will be everyone choice not only during Little League ruleset, but in other battle too. All monsters with Heal ability is essential to some meta. In this battle, I can not afford any healers so a self healing becomes crucial. He will be boosted by Venari death and we hope he can stand strong as the main tank |
The Backline Team
| Position | Card | Ability | Plan and Strategy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Second | Martyr | Our beloved rat must die first, or else we might have difficulty or maybe lose this battle. I set him on this position to make sure he gets hit first then die | |
| Third | Camouflage, Void | This might be the big question, why do I pick him as the second monster to be boosted by martyr death. I am thinking about making a Glass Canon. You will see later how dangerous he will be after the boost | |
| Fourth | Dispel | my first additional mage, I really do not need any of his ability. Beside 1 magic damage, what I like about him is that he is a gold foil one, so I will get extra point if I win this battle. | |
| Fifth | Amplify, protect | The reason why I dare to use bunch of small health monsters in this team is because of Queen Mycelia protect ability. She will guard everyone from sneak and opportunity attacks. | |
| The Last | Triage, Dispel | My last member of mage army. I am not sure I might need his triage in this battle, regarding all of my team has a small health points. However I could not think of any other Magic attackers available who is better than him. |
This was a Silver League Modern Rank Battle. Let see how this battle would progress...
ROUND 1
- The battle started with both of us Buffing up our team and debuffing our opponents.
- My opponent came with 8 Melee damage and 1 magic damage, combined all became 9 damage per round. However he had Dhampir Assassin who had double strike.
- My team had 1 Melee Damage, 1 range damage and 9 range damage. A total 11 Damage per round.
- My team had a better fire power than their team however their team was a lot faster than me. This battle was about DAMAGE VS SPEED
ROUND 2
- Round one was a nasty one. They killed my Spirit Hoarder without giving my team any chance of retaliaton
- However my team managed to killed their Queen Mycelia and Clockwork Aide. They lost all their supports and now only the tank and Damage dealer who were left
ROUND 3
- I lost my Queen Mycelia and the Venari Marksrat. I got the Martyr Boost on Xenith Monk and Djinn Biljka and I was confidence my team would win this 3 vs 3 battle.
ROUND 4
- It's down to the last 2 vs 2 condition, however my last two were not a normal ones, they were the ones who get boosted by the martyr death. I was sure they both were OP
ROUND 5
- The last round... good game, my last 2 monsters indeed too strong for them
CLOSURE AND DISCUSSION
Both of us actually came with a solid approach,. My opponent used a focused sneak attacks with the help of swiftness to win the Speed war. I came with an approach to exploit martyr ability which later led the victory. So here are a couple of points which we can learn from this battle
1. Little League Standard
Those two got buffed up by martyr death. Stats wise they don't look something that incredible and this is what most people miss out... Little league monsters, or 4 mana and below monsters tend to be weak. 1 value boosted up on them are more significant that 1 value boosted up on big monsters. To put it more significant, during little league ruleset, boosted or powered up monsters become OP because that single value difference.
That Djinn Biljka for example, 4 magic damage can kill most of little league monsters in one go. He becomes a true cannon, one shot with high explosiveness that kills the target instantly. If we have this boost on big monsters, for example NERRISA TRIDAWN, her magic rises from 3 damages to 4 damages, in deed become powerful but might not be as scary as this Djinn Biljka in little league rulest.
2. Prepare To Cover It Up
What do I mean with cover it up? The martyr is meant to die soon, so basically you will fight with less than one monsters (the martyr). Do not use a meta that need all monsters to actively participating in defend or dealing damage, because that could crumble easily when Martyr dies.
Remember most martyr is not mean to battle for long rounds. Some can, but this Venari Marksrat definite not that type.
