I finished the week's tournament at Hive in a shocking way, reaping a first place that I never in my dreams expected, especially with the format of this tournament, chess 960, guys, if I already consider myself terrible at regular chess, don't expect many more when they add 960 variants
This is one of those variants that I don't even bother to review because I know it's too much for my poor brain, there are 960 ways in which the game can start and we will have to improvise a lot on the board, forget about openings, common attack plans and so on, this is chaos.
...
But somehow I found myself in a good position in the first games I played, of course my opponents are not very familiar with this type of chess either, but you can see that I had problems in this position until I got comfortable and was able to take advantage of a mistake by my opponent.
A lot of exciting games even though my usual opponents beat me a couple more times, I only lost three games in this tournament and they were against them even though I was using power-ups the whole tournament and cutting my time in half, so games that could be easier become complicated
Or this one where I almost lost because of time and had to settle for a draw, I had my chances but I ended up messing up the position and was about to lose.
Without a doubt my best game ever played, I almost felt like a master getting the winning sequence, a delight that allowed me to escape on the table and arrive a little more relaxed to the final minutes of the tournament, I finished in first place, something that gives me confidence for more tournaments later on
two in a row in this chess season! thanks to for organizing these tournaments and count on me for the next ones, I hope for more fun formats like this
