The Police - Reggatta de Blanc 1979
Bell bottom pants, frayed jeans, maxi dresses and goddam Tie dye! The UK was starting to turn its back on punk and bands like The Police fitted nicely in that transition. Probably their best album in my opinion and we're still sending out an SOS to the world.
Dire Straights - Making Movies 1980
Probaly the most iconic album of 80's that just about everyone listened to and then forgot about until Romeo and Juliet plays on the radio (Does the youth of today listen to the radio?) hands up all those who remember tearing around in a Volkswagen Golf GTI or a Ford Capri listening to this?
Thompson Twins - INTO THE GAP 1984
Break out the stupid haircuts and crumpled look. I think I bought this album mainly for a girl I was dating at the time rather than any serious interest.
GO WEST - GO WEST 1985
Hugely popular at the time they seemed to fade into the background even though they're still active today. We Close our Eyes: Although you'll never read this, thanks for buying me the album Valerie and the time we had.
