Life of a Meerkat...
Hey don't judge me
I am not a nosy little critter. I like standing like this by nature, because I am on lookout duty for predators. Because I am such a small animal I am easy prey for bigger predators like (Hawks, Eagles, Snakes and Jackals)
We Meerkats might look like very solitary animals, but on the contrary we are very family orientated animals. We have big families which are normally called gangs or mobs, which are led by a dominant couple. We have adapted to living in dry desert type of environments. We normally live in burrows in the ground. We are somewhat lazy and would rather occupy existing burrows that was previously deserted by other animals than dig new ones.
As Meerkats our primary diet consists mostly of insects, but we are not very fussy eaters and do however enjoy eating other small animals as well like Snakes, Scorpion, Lizards.
We are still lucky to not be an endangered species, but this does not mean we should be taken for granted as we play a very important role to stop or slow down pest infestation in nature by eating insects.
Please note these are some older photo's from my external backup and uploaded to my Imgur.com Life of a Meerkat... album.
They were taken with an Olympus SP500UZ Digital Camera.
Hope you all have a blessed day.
