This street is found in Stromness, the Orkney Island in Scotland. It is the second largest city, but hasn't more than a few thousand inhabitants. The name derives from the Old Norse. Orkney was once under Norwegean rule, which means many of the names on treets, places etc. have a close connection with the old Norwegean language.
