Don’t you just wish there’s a magic button that would get rid of all the uninteresting content on steemit? I do. And you know what, I found out that there actually is one!
Believe it or not there are quality posts on steemit! The problem is that they’re getting drowned by the noise. The challenge then is how to find the good ones .
Since steemit is supposed to be democratic, it’s up to you to find the content that suits your taste. You say quality is relative? No problem, you can customize what posts you see on your feed and even on the trending page.
Dying with curiosity yet?
Okay, I’ll tell about the secret magic button in a minute. First, I want to tell about how I cleaned up my feed.
Follow the Right People
The first thing I did to clean up my feed by unfollowing people who post content I’m not really interested in. As would say, “this is not a reflection of the quality” of those people’s posts. I’m just not interested in what they are posting.
Now, my feed is populated with blogs posts created by people I really, truly like. Every time I open my feed, I’m greeted by something interesting because it’s now tailor-made for me.
If you want to enjoy steemit, clean up your follow list and only follow people who create content you enjoy consuming!
The Secret Magic Button
Some of you will say cleaning up your feed is well and good. But what about the trending page? It still has a lot of garbage on it. Here’s where the magic button comes in.
It’s called the “Mute” button and I’ll show you how to use it to clean up even the hot and the trending pages.
Let’s take an example. Are you tired of technical analysis populating YOUR trending page every 2.4 hours? Most of us are. And here's the solution.
Just use the mute button to hide all posts from that particular user. See picture below.
It’s really simple.
Once you remove the garbage posts, what’s left is steemit gold! Again, quality is relative so it’s up to you to choose the users who remain in your feed.
Quality Posters I Discovered
If you still have any doubts if this will work, just check out the list of the people I follow. I truly, genuinely enjoy their posts. And I’m now having so much fun using steemit and CONSUMING content produced by these people.

Here are some I would recommend for you:
– I don’t do the workouts on her videos but I love watching her do them. :)
– He doesn’t write often but when he does, you’re gonna love it.
– His ideas about steemit make a lot of sense.
– I like his analysis on what’s going on on steemit.
– Is very articulate and he’s started a magazine here on steemit.
– Very talented and smart creature.
– Interesting variety of blog posts. Plus she looks like Daenerys.
And that’s just a few of them. There's still many I like that I haven't mentioned. Now, I’m very careful with adding people on my follow list. I only add people I’m genuinely interested in.
So, to summarize:
Choose who you follow carefully.
Use that “Mute” button.
Those two simple things will dramatically improve your steemit experience.
