Yes, It is possible to Double your productivity in Discord with Half the time spend on it
I got exited after learn that I could get plenty of information in Discord Server. It is a new jargon for me as I never know what that "Discord" is about. As a beginner who just learn to use Discord , you would like get carried away by its complexity ( it the admin designed it that way ) and lost in between your moving around the powerful yet supposed to be user friendly chat or messenger apps.
Some of the obvious reasons for you to spend more then required in Discord are perhaps indicated in the following list :-
- Not sure where to start
- Channel set up is too general for the topic
- No Guide line within the Channel
1. Not sure where to start
It is unfortunate that some admin of Discord assumed users know how to use discord and hence obvious guideline are neglected. While there is always room for improvement, you should look around the dashboard of Discord for indicative title in each Channel.
Oh...btw, Channel is a name used to identify a category or topic. It is also similar to a folder in computer filing system. If the title is clear and concise, then it should serve its purpose.
For example: A channel with the title " #start-here-first ", then first time user should click the channel and read what is available in this channel.
Well, some admin may argue for its necessity but my opinion is that you can save lots of time because you never go to the wrong place ( channel )
Another example :
A channel with the title " #self-promotion "
It is quite obvious this channel is set up to allow members to list their post link for the purpose of promoting their article.
2. Channel set up is too general for the topic
As the boundary of Steemit topic is very wide, it is quite amazed that you will find time to browse the list of Channels for the topic or category you want to look for. Therefore you may assume your topic is inside a particular channel and you click on it. Perhaps half the time you found what you want in the clicked channel. What about the other half the time ?
Unless you have a valid reason, some admin of Discord will summarize the topic or category into lesser channels so that it is easier to administered.
While it is understandable why some admin chosen that way to manage the channels set up , you need to find a balance approach that allow user for easy search while not too burden for you to managed them
I quote some example of Channel
3. No Guide line within the Channel
Sounds obvious right ? But do you see a guide in the channel you visited ? Maybe some and not all ? That's right , some admin argued that user should be able to read the title of the channel and understand the content in that channel. While there is no right or wrong approach, it is a matter of choice perhaps or the thinking process of an admin
There is one hint though for you to improvement the user-friendly aspect of your discord. That is consider all the feedback or difficulties faced with users and develop and fool-proof method to avoid recurance of the same problem.
