Superman has always been one of my favorite characters throughout his various screen adaptations, but I realized that these versions always focused more on a more “mature” Clark Kent. I had never given a young Clark, with teenage problems, a chance, and Smallville was the perfect medium for that.

From the very first episode, you realize that this is a series from the 2000s; that era has a very distinct aura that I love to see captured in Smallville. The format of having a story per episode parallel to the main plot is perfect for Clark's story. It also made me miss seasons with more than 20 episodes; filler or themed episodes can be a lot of fun, even though current series seem to have forgotten that. The special effects are quite good for their time (I'm not really picky about this, especially on television). Finally, the opening are iconic; they evoke a lot of nostalgia.
Favorite Characters ❤
- Clark Kent is my favorite (and this is coming from someone who always loves the supporting characters). Clark is, quite simply, a good soul; he has his ups and downs, but at heart he's a good guy, and that doesn't make him any less interesting. On the contrary: that's what I've always found so charming about the character.
- I loved seeing Lex Luthor beyond his role as the ‘villain’; it's great to be able to appreciate the gray areas of the character. He's not purely evil, but he can't be considered ‘good’ either. I'm very intrigued to see how his relationship with Clark will develop in the future.
- Chloe Sullivan is smart, funny, and tells it like it is; I really like her friendship with Clark and how they work together. I love that she's always investigating beyond the obvious, even if it gets her into trouble.
Much of the conflict in Smallville is how Clark tries to maintain his “good soul” while dealing with the burden of his powers and what that means for him and his friends. The plot is entertaining and fun, with just the right amount of drama without being over the top, and the action you look for in a superhero story. Desde el primer capítulo te das cuenta de que es una serie de los 2000; esa época tiene un aura muy marcada que me encanta ver plasmada en Smallville. El formato de tener una historia por capitulo paralelo a la trama principal es perfecto para la historia de Clark. Además, me hizo extrañar las temporadas de más de 20 capítulos; los episodios de relleno o temáticos pueden ser muy divertidos, aunque las series actuales parezcan haberlo olvidado. Los efectos especiales están bastante bien para su época (la verdad no soy exigente con esto, y menos en televisión). Por último, la intro es icónica; despierta mucha nostalgia.
Personajes Favoritos ❤
- Clark Kent es mi favorito (y esto viene de alguien que siempre ama a los personajes secundarios). Clark es, simplemente, un alma buena; tiene sus altas y bajas, pero en esencia es un chico bueno y eso no lo hace menos interesante. Al contrario: es lo que siempre me ha parecido el encanto del personaje.
- Me ha encantado ver a Lex Luthor más allá de su faceta de 'villano'; es genial poder apreciar los grises del personaje. No es alguien puramente malvado, pero tampoco se puede considerar “bueno”. Me intriga mucho saber cómo se desarrollará su relación con Clark en el futuro.
- Chloe Sullivan es inteligente, divertida y dice las verdades a la cara; me gusta mucho su amistad con Clark y cómo trabajan juntos. Me encanta que siempre anda investigando más allá de lo obvio, aunque eso le pueda traer problemas.
Gran parte del conflicto en Smallville es cómo Clark intenta mantener su “alma buena” mientras lidia con el peso de sus poderes y lo que eso significa para él y sus amigos. La trama es entretenida y divertida, con el drama justo sin llegar a ser exagerado y la acción que uno busca en una historia de superhéroes.
