Coolworks.com was, at one time, my favorite website. You can apply for a lot of positions in National Parks and just anywhere "cool". After being accepted to a few positions, I had to decide which place I wanted to go. I could choose between working in northern Alaska, a Buddhist temple in California, or the Grand Canyon. Not wanting to live in a tent, in -40°F weather.. Alaska was out. While I enjoy learning about Buddhism, I am not a Buddhist and the pay just wasn't enough.. California was out. So I accepted the job in the Grand Canyon.
First things first.. I had to sell my precious banjo to pay for a bus ticket.
After that, I packed all I had left into a duffel bag and took off.
When I got there, I was set up with a shared dorm room and my first few days off to sightsee.
After working there for a few weeks, I had to head back to Missouri for some family issues. I didn't get to spend as much time there as I would have liked, but the time I had was incredible. I met amazing people from all over the world and got to live on the south rim of one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen!
