Pentel SMASH / ぺんてるスマッシュ

These mechanical pencils got me started with mechanical pencil obsession.
They are called SMASH and made by leading Japanese stationaly company called Pentel.
SMASH has been around for about 30 years. It was designed as everyday use version of Graph1000, the drafting mechanical pencil, the another favorite of mine. The black is the basic colour. I also have grayblue... and some limited edition colours...blue, red, pink, white, japangold and gunmetalic.

こちら...多分ご存知の方たくさんいらっしゃると思います。ぺんてるのスマッシュ。私がシャーペンオタクになるもとを作った張本人でございます(笑)
ぺんてるのグラフ1000という製図用シャーペンを一般向けにデザインした物だそうで、使い勝手は抜群です。約30年このデザインと言うのも納得出来ますね。

If you take a good look... the tip and the grip of the pencil is one piece design which provides a very sturdy writing experience. The lead sleave (pipe) is 4mm long just like drafting pencils. You will be able to see what you are writing very well.

よく見ると分かりますが、口金(ペン先) とグリップが一つのパーツで出来ています。口金が緩む心配がなくガシガシ書けます。スリーブ (パイプ) は製図用シャーペンと同じ4mm。ペン先が良く見えます。

Very simple but beautiful design. It is great for students from grade 7 and up and adult. I recomend young writer a real pencil with softer lead B and 2B... if mechanical pencil was used, I recomend 1.3mm, 0.9mm and 0.7mm lead start with softer lead to harder as they get older.

中学生、高校生、大学生...社会人の方が持っていても一目置かれる様な、シンプルですが、とても美しいデザインです。
日本の小学校ではシャーペンは使えないですよね。こちら (あ、私、カナダに住んでいます^^) は決まりはなくて、次女はまだ3年生になったばかりですが、学校で用意される鉛筆はHB、昨年の担任の先生は子供たちが授業中に鉛筆を削るのが気になるとかで、0.7mmのHBのシャーペンを用意してました^^; それ以来、娘にはコクヨの鉛筆シャープ1.3mmと0.9mm、どちらも2Bの芯を入れて使わせています。とても良いシャーペンで、お姉ちゃんもお気に入りです。
