Hi everyone. In this Pokemon TCG post, I cover the Japanese Abyss Eye set reveal for May 2026. The featured Pokemon card here is Mega Darkrai ex along with other cards.
Dark Bell

Dark Bell is a simple Item card that makes both Active Pokemon (yours and opponents) that are not Dark Pokemon Confused. On its own, Confusion is pretty annoying. A confused Pokemon has the attack resume if Heads is flipped before the attack. If Tails, then the Confused Pokemon fails the attack and takes 30 damage to itself (I think its 30).
Shadow Dark Energy

Shadow Dark Energy is a Special Energy card that provides 1 Dark Energy to any Pokemon.
If a Dark Pokemon has Shadow Dark Energy, then that Dark Pokemon on the Bench prevents any damage it takes from opponent's attacks.
Chi-Yu

Previous versions of Chi-Yu have the Fire typing. This one is a Dark Basic attacker.
The Spiraling Envy attack requires 1 Dark Energy for 20 base damage. If this Chi-Yu has 2 or more damage counters on it, then this attack does 70 more damage. This attack does not apply weakness.
Getting 2 damage counters on this Chi-Yu is not too difficult. Toxtricity helps out with this. Then use Pecharunt ex to bring it out and attack.
Zarude

Zarude used to have the Grass typing but this one is a Dark attacker.
Overhead Throw requires 1 Dark Energy for its attack. It does 30 damage to the opponent's Active Pokemon plus 30 to 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokemon.
The Shadow Ship attack requires 3 Dark Energy to deal 100 base damage. If any one of your Benched Pokemon have Shadow Dark Energy, then this attack does 70 more damage (170 damage). Using Toxtricity helps but I think a lot is required to get 170 damage from this attack. This 170 damage amount does target Meowth ex though.
Inkay & Malamar

Inkay as an attacker is not great. The Item search first attack is kind of useful.
Malamar is the Stage 1 evolution of Inkay. The first attack just makes the opponent's Active Pokemon Confused. Brain Crush for 1 Dark Energy deals 130 damage only if the opponent's Active Pokemon is Confused.
Mega Darkrai ex

Here is Mega Darkrai ex. It is a Basic Mega Pokemon ex with 280 HP, a two retreat cost and Grass weakness.
The Night raid first attack requires 2 Dark Energy to deal 110 base damage. If any of your Benched Pokemon have damage on them, then this Night Raid attack does 110 more damage (220 damage). Hitting 220 damage is pretty good against common Basic support Pokemon ex like Meowth ex, Fezandipiti ex and Latias ex.
Abyss Eye is the second attack. It requires 3 Dark Energy to Knock Out the opponent's Active Pokemon with a Special Condition. Special Conditions include Burn, Asleep, Confusion and Paralysis. One combo you can use is this Volcanion in the Active Spot to make the opponent's Active Pokemon Burned and then come in for the kill with Mega Darkrai's Abyss Eye.
Mega Darkrai and Mega Absol ex will be the two main attackers that have deadly one hit knockout attacks. Toxtricity based Dark decks have a lot of options when it comes to attacking. Be careful of Grass attackers though.
Thank you for reading.
