Hi there. In this education post I would like to cover the concept of time investment when it comes to learning for youths. Some of the contents and ideas from this post can apply to adults as well.
Learning New Things In Early Years
Toddlers and young kids are in their prime ages in learning new skills, words, movement and knowledge. They learn new things at home, in public from TV and from other family members. Many of these young ones absorb new information like a sponge.
From an education and parenting perspective, parents can use this abundance of free time to their advantage. As kids have lots of free time on their hands it is a good idea to use all that free time to teach them activities like music lessons, arts and crafts, basic baking/cooking, sports and/or martial arts. Assuming that the parents have the time and money to have their kids do extra activities it is good to get the kids into some sort of new activity outside of school and the household. Kids learn quickly when it comes to trying to behave in front other kids and in public.
It Takes Time To Develop Skills & Knowledge
It is really important to note that skills and knowledge does take a long to develop. Someone like a musician needs lots of practice in order to play instruments well and play music. A gymnast needs lots of practice in order to be able to backflip on the spot without error. High level mathematicians need a lot of practice through homework in order to be able to solve problems faster than most for work and in life.
You cannot really expect perfection from anyone let alone a young kid when it comes to sports, martial arts, any subject or any skill. A lot of time is invested for practice and development. There is also the money investment side of developing skills but that is more for a different post.
The Focus Part Of Practice
While time investment is important when it comes to practice there is the focus factor in practice. The level of focus or intensity does help speed up the learning rate for someone learning a subject or skill. Focus also helps when it comes to relearning or reviewing concepts and skills. A high level of focus can be maintained by mostly paying attention and limiting distractions like removing phones during homework. Something like 15 minutes of intense focus in language learning can be more beneficial than 30 minutes of language learning while web browsing.
