Hey Steemians,
Today I'm gonna introduce you to my Older brother, Kevin Jackson AKA NIVEK. He does so many things its not funny. He is a:
- Karate champ
- Member of the Jamaica fencing federation
- Leader of Jamaican animation nation.
- Web designer
- Film maker
- Actor
- Voice actor
- Writer
- And more
Today we will focus on his animation.
Believe it or not, my bro Kevin self taught himself to animate and actually landed a gig with the government doing recycle/keep your island clean ad campaigns. He recently did some online courses to beef up as he knows how the world works, the piece of paper is a necessity to get through the door. Here are some of the ads below.
How cool is that? His ads play on TV and at the cinema regularly. Pretty nice resume asset " Yeah I did that ad for "Nuh Dutty Up Jamaica."
Recently he has been trying to get an animation series off the ground based on Jamaican history about the Maroons who were slaves that ran away from the plantations and formed their own communities in the hills and mountains of Jamaica. It is a very important part of Jamaican history, you would think the government would found a project like this to preserve history and showcase Jamaican creativity.
Abeeku and the Maroons trailer
My brother along with his partners have won numerous awards for his films and animation especially Abeeku and the Maroons. It's like every month I hear of a new award and see his face in the papers. Here is the latest award for best animation at Gattfest.
At the moment he only has one full episode of Abeeku and the Maroons as he is the illustrator, animator and voice for all characters. I know my bro will get the founding he needs to take this series to the next level. Can't wait to see how this project unfolds.
Here is my bro and his partner talking about Abeeku and the Maroons. If you have any ideas of how they could crowdfund effectivley let me know by commenting below. I would say use steemit but I'm not sure this is the place for that, or is it? Lets do a mastermind and get my bro's series to the masses.
