This is a story of the prince of mathematics Carl Friedrich Gauss.
One day in his mathematics class his teacher noticed that he was not paying attention to his class so he gave him a punishment to sum all number from 1 to 100 i.e. 1+2+3+...
But the teacher was shocked when he solve it within minutes then teacher asked how he done that.The procedure was if we put
S=1+2+3+4+5+6....We can also write
S=100+99+98+97...So if we add S twice we get
2S=101+101+101+101....100terms
2S=100×101
S=50×101=5050
This astonishing procedure was thought by gais at the age of 12 and we still use this procedure that summation of n terms S=n(n+1)/2.
This is a short story of the one of the greatest mathematician.
