1981 version of Clash of the Titans was the last major Hollywood film to feature old-school stop motion techniques of special effects. In spite of looking primitive even for those times, that retelling of ancient Greek myths about Perseus proved to be one of the more entertaining and popular early 1980s fantasy films. Its inevitable 2010 remake was, on the other hand, among the first blockbusters to use 3D technology (hastily added in post-production) following the success of Avatar. The end result was very different – despite the impressive names in the cast and special effects, the script had little do with the original version and even less with Greek mythology. The biggest disappointment was Sam Worthington as Perseus, with his modern US marine haircut out of place in mythic Greece and completely lacking charisma of Harry Hamlin in original film. Despite being such disappointment, Clash earned enough money to warrant another, equally disapointing, sequel.
