2012 French science fiction film directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Lager uses variation of the plot used in John Carpenter's classic Escape from New York (which in 2016 became the subject of Carpenter's successful plagiarism suit). It begins in 2079 when Emily Warnock (played by Maggie Grace), well-meaning liberal daughter of US president, visits MS One, orbital space station that serves as prison for hundreds of the worst and most dangerous criminals. Warnock is concerned for their rights and well-being, but her own well-being becomes endangered when psychopatic inmate Hydell (played by Joseph Gilgun) starts a riot that would result with prisoners, led by Alex (played by Vincent Regan). Top CIA operative Snow (played by Guy Pearce) is sent to the station in order to infiltrate it and try to discreetly rescue First Daughter. Unavoidable comparisons between this film and Carpenter's Escape tell that French filmmakers had better budget and technology, but less inspiration. That especially comes into view at the ending, which is terribly overlong, unconvincing and plagued by bad special effects.
