Second film in Jason Bourne film series abandoned any pretense of following original Robert Ludlum's novels. Plot begins in Goa with former CIA assassin Jason Bourne (played by Matt Damon) losing his girlfriend Marie (played by Franka Potente) during assassination attempt by corrupt Russian secret agent (played by Karl Urban). Bourne is going to find people responsible and, while doing so, he reveals complicated conspiracy involving his former CIA bosses and Russian oligarchs. The Bourne Supremacy introduced new director Paul Greengrass, known for his semi-documentary style based on handheld cameras, which is somewhat unusual for action genre. Damon handles his role well, and the film, unburdened by comparisons with literary source, looks few notches better than The Bourne Identity.
