Hoy quiero comentar un poco sobre la pandemia por Covid-19, específicamente comentar mi punto de vista sobre su tratamiento.

Desde el comienzo de esta pandemia ha existido mucha controversia sobre el tratamiento curativo para este virus, en un principio se comenzó a usar la hidroxicloroquina, un fármaco de uso para la malaria o paludismo y luego se ensayó con la ivermectina, un fármaco antiparasitario; ambos tratamientos sin éxito alguno.

Por ahora y basados en evidencias los únicos 2 fármacos que han mostrado eficacia contra este virus son los glucocorticoides, en este caso la dexametasona y el remdesivir un antiviral que en el año 2.014 se probó como ensayo contra el virus del ébola, siendo este un medicamento de alto costo, lo que limita a las personas de escasos recursos para su uso.

For now and based on evidence, the only 2 drugs that have shown efficacy against this virus are glucocorticoids, in this case dexamethasone and remdesivir, an antiviral that in 2014 was tested as a test against the Ebola virus, this being a drug high cost, limiting people with limited resources to use it.

Otro punto importante y que llama mucho mi atención es el mal uso y abuso de los antibióticos, ya que estos solo deben ser utilizados para tratar infecciones bacterianas; y como todos sabemos este llamado Covid-19 es un virus, el uso de forma prolongada de los antibióticos deprimen el sistema inmunológico haciendo que el coronavirus actué con más fuerza y replicando su carga viral sobre el paciente, convirtiéndose este medicamento en un aliado del virus y empeorando el cuadro clínico del paciente, logrando en la mayoría de sus casos haciéndose irreversible, hasta el punto de causar la muerte.

Another important point that draws my attention is the misuse and abuse of antibiotics, since they should only be used to treat bacterial infections; And as we all know this so-called Covid-19 is a virus, the prolonged use of antibiotics depresses the immune system, making the coronavirus act more strongly and replicating its viral load on the patient, making this drug an ally of the virus and worsening the clinical picture of the patient, achieving in most cases becoming irreversible, to the point of causing death.

Mientras los científicos tratan de encontrar un fármaco definitivo que neutralice el virus, a nosotros los médicos que estamos contra la batalla de esta pandemia nos queda seguir con el empirismo basado en nuestra experiencia y la evidencia, con el fin de lograr vencer este mortal virus y esperando que la población mundial sea inmunizada en su totalidad mediante la aplicación de las diferentes vacunas.

While scientists try to find a definitive drug to neutralize the virus, we doctors who are against the battle of this pandemic are left to continue with empiricism based on our experience and evidence, in order to defeat this deadly virus and waiting for the world population to be fully immunized through the application of different vaccines.
