Matthew 25 vs 14-15
“Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.
In Matthew Chapter 25 vs 14-30, Jesus spoke about a parable The Parable Of Talent where he spoke about a master who entrusted his servants with properties and punishment awaited those who failed to utilize their talents but those who used their talents were rewarded.
The term “talents” in the context of the parable of the talents as narrated by Jesus means “a gift or ability.” Jesus says, “And to one he gave live talents, to another two, and to another one, to everyone according to his own ability“(Matthew.25:15)
Your ability is the measure of your responsibility.
To “whom much is given, much will be required" (Luke.12:48b).
There was in a home a gentleman who was sprinkling the lawn. His little girl, a child of about six years, was helping daddy as her childish fancy prompted.
The little girl would bring her toy watering pot to the father, and he, reducing the force of the stream, would rill it from the hose. It matters little to the grass and flowers whether the water which they needed was given through the large sprinkler or the child‘s toy watering pot.
In the like manner, it matters little to the world whether you are a man of one, two, live or ten talents, so you give it the best you have.
Of a truth, the one talent man giving his best is better than the ten talent man giving his worst. It is not how much you give to the world, but what you give it.
The one talent servant in the parable was punished by his master not because he was given the “smallest” or least talent, but because he failed to utilize his talent. God has deposited in every one of us one talent or the other. We should not disappoint Him like the one talent servant in the parable.
“Your talent is God's gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God”-Leo Buscaglia.
The Parable of the ten talents encourages us to emulate the Master by using all that have been bestowed upon us for the glorification of His name and servitude to the church for the sake of His kingdom.
