I forgot to put my Fitbit back on this morning or turn on actifit on my phone so I missed most of my steps while I was at work. Normally it's between 7K and 10K steps since I'm always up and moving with my students.
Work went well today since my administrator did a walkthrough of my classroom and I managed great feedback from her. This is a huge load off my shoulders since there is almost always something that can be fixed in a class!
The majority of my steps came from my 5 miles run this evening after my kid went to sleep. The weather was pretty nice tonight, well most nights in San Diego are nice.
The goal was to run within myself and pick up the pace a little each mile. I tried to do this without looking at my watch. I've found it is really hard for me to gauge my effort without looking at my watch constantly. This wasn't an issue 10 years ago and I enjoyed running more when I didn't have to use a watch or a heart rate monitor to gauge my effort.
Therefore, I'll be running most of my runs without looking at the watch to see if I can retrain my ability to run solely off effort. Which, honestly, is probably better since this will force me to listen to my body and run concerning how I feel and not what a watch is telling me!
| Mile | Split | Overall Time | Overall Pace |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 8:21 | 8:21 | 8:21 |
| 2 | 8:13 | 16:34 | 8:17 |
| 3 | 7:52 | 24:26 | 8:08 |
| 4 | 7:40 | 32:06 | 8:01 |
| 5 | 7:21 | 39:27 | 7:53 |
The first few miles were pretty rough, I ate dinner only about an hour before I went on my run. HUGE MISTAKE, I felt heavy and I burped a few times and without a doubt could taste my dinner. I won't make the mistake again. Actually, I bet I will, but I'll try not to! Time just doesn't always allow for avoiding it. It is a goal of my wife and me to always eat at the dinner table together with our kid. So if I have to go on a few runners and suffer the first bit that I'll do that.
