HELLO STEEMIT
This will be my formal introduction . My name is Jamie , I am a Canadian born adventurer, traveler, artist, athlete and more. As my name suggests I am extremely eclectic. For instance, one day I'll be welding up a new sculpture, the next working on my motorcycle only to end the day creating some new exciting meal. I found out about Steemit through &
, so lets just break down a few things about me .
ADVENTURE
I have to say I've been lucky. Like extremely lucky to have been able to do some of the most incredible adventures in the world. hummm .. where to start ...
ROAD TRIPS
One special road trip from my old home in Squamish B.C. up to Whitehorse in the spring time with my cousin. An amazing adventure which was my first introduction to 24 hr daylight.
Some of my crazy adventures happened alone . Just me and my trusty metal steed. AKA my Kawasaki KLR650 motorcycle.
)
Before my NOLA adventure
Starting from Toronto, I have gone on an adventure almost every year since i got my bike about 7 years ago. My first was to the Cabot trail on the east coast of Canada. An absolutely stellar ride that circumnavigates the Island of Cape Breton.
Touring above the clouds on the Cabot Trail
The next, was a ride that took me across Canada and north to the great state of ALASKA . Let me just tell you, even though it was May, I still hit -10 weather with sleet and snow. Being wet and cold SUCKS , but once I was in Alaska , riding up mountains and looking over the glaciers, it was well worth the suffering.
Up and down a few switchbacks lead me to this stellar spot
At this point in my life, I had two wheeled through almost every province except the great land of the NEWFIE who are the fantastic people from Labrador and Newfoundland. So a trip up through Labrador and then across to Newfoundland had to be done . Lets just say -10 weather in May in northern Saskatchewan caught me off guard... this was in September In northern Labrador that kicked my ass the EXACT SAME WAY ..... yep -10 sleet and snow. COLD AND WET SUCKS. Both those times i could barely turn a door knob my hands were so cold . I had to find a hotel to warm up and dry off on both occasions .
When the adventure really starts
Last but not least was a birthday present to myself trip to New Orleans for jazz fest to see Van Morrison . I could go on about all the wonderful people I met down there as well as the delicious foods. Creole shrimp grits , alligator sausage soooooo good ..
Jazzfest with some new friends
TRAVEL
This could just as easily go under adventure since I would find myself in strange places with interesting people from all over the world. I could probably have a book written for each place I have visited. So discounting the aforementioned places I'll give a small blurb about the more exotic places visited. Swimming is absolutely spiritual and two places I've swam have very umm polar (HINT) feelings.
Renting a boat and guide to do some snorkeling on the Pacific side of Costa Rica at sunset has to be one of the best ideas ever. 3 random people from all different countries pooling money to do this just adds to the smile. As vivid as can be I can still see that sunset in my head while treading in the warmest water in the world.
From these cute guys to ..(see next pic)
Now swimming in Antarctica is a whole different bag (AND A SHRUNKEN BAG IT WAS). Let me tell you that cold does not even come close to explaining it ... Freezing does not even cut it .. Your brain gets super confused as it begins to question its own choices. The biggest question in your head is "WHY THE #^#%@#@$#%$ DID YOU DO THIS !!!!!!!!." Really though, how could you not. The best was really having a cheeky curious penguin nipping at my glove while on a beach.
To these cool guys
I've also been to Mexico, Cuba, Israel, Argentina,Nicaragua, Greenland, Norway as well as seen almost 90% of this wonderful county of Canada and been to countless states in the USA. And probably more places that I cant even think of now. I plan to share some of these travel adventures more intimately through blog post here on Steemit.

ART
Art, as subjective as it is for me started young .. really young. At no real choice of my own, having older sisters will wear off on you. So goes the beginning of my arts and crafts. I can vividly remember doing it, id say I was around 8 or 9. I had taken my teddy bear laid him out on some material and proceeded to outline, cut and stitch an exact copy of him. I was in some way making my own minions.
My arts include, painting with oils, sculpting with soapstone, metal sculptures and forging, writing (poetry prose and lyrics), I'll add cooking in here too. Making my own apple cider , from picking wild apples to the sweet boozy nectar ,to my famous home made pickled beans or even cured sausage . I make it all . You will see a lot of the different arts and crafts pop up on my profile. One day i'll be making moccasins, the next ill be making aftershave. STAY TUNED.

OTHER
Some other things that are big in my life ...... HOCKEY .. play, watch repeat. Camping. I did not mention before in my travel section, but all those motorcycle trips included camping, hiking, snowshoeing and being in nature. Doing some philanthropist type things too . Donated my hair , I think 4 times now . I really lost track . As well as making care packages for the homeless in the winter .
It takes a lot more than one person to make a wig , you can help too
Being grounded in nature and not being swept away by the superfluous climbing of the corporate ladder. There is nothing like walking around and eating all the wild edibles you find and that includes edible mushrooms, which I might add I have been infatuated with of late.
Mycology is absolutely fascinating.
Wild Chanterelles In Bon Echo provincial park
My dream is to live off grid in the woods, growing, forging, hunting and fishing while selling my creations at farmers markets or having my own little market. From what I've seen so far, I believe that Steemit can help this plan come to fruition.
I am very much looking forward to sharing my adventures with the Steemit Community, as well as, joining some of yours! I've already noticed that there is an abundance of talent, knowledge and ingenuity among many of my newfound Steemit peers and I can't wait to contribute!
A little fun with metal
