With the victory obtained yesterday in the semifinal of the Masters 1000 of Cincinnati, the Swiss Roger Federer will return to see the Serbian Novak Djokovic in a final of an ATP tournament for three years.
The number two and number 11 of the ATP ranking, will face today in the last round of a tournament for the first time since 2015, when the Serbian won the Swiss ATP Finals (former Masters Cup), this being the eighteenth occasion in that these two greats of world tennis were fighting for a title.
Federer made the pass to his eighth final in Cincinnati after his semifinal rival, the Belgian David Goffin, eleventh favorite, retired during the dispute of the second set.
If the final is counted today, the Swiss reaches the 150th end of his career in the ATP circuit and seeks the title number 99 of his record, he has won seven times in Cincinnati, the same in which he reached the last round of the competition : 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2015.
