It was quite a chilly morning as I revisited a place I’d only been to once before. This time, I decided to venture into the wood and try to do a circular walk. The last time I was here, I didn’t know the area, but I’m a little more knowledgeable now.
The wooded area looked quite dark and cold. It wasn’t very inviting, but once I got in there, the bright green leaves of a couple of trees lit the place up.
Once through the wood, I walked past the horses’ field and then past the derelict stone building. This took me to the outskirts of another wood, with fields to my left.
There were a few obstacles, mainly a boggy looking trench. I spotted where other people had managed to get over, so it was quite easy in the end. There were a lot of rotten, gnarly trees on the ground so I spotted the odd fungus.
At some point, I decided to turn right to try and make my way back to the car.
It will be nice to return here in the summer, as there were lots of rhododendron bushes. They were mostly still in bud, although a few had flowered. Even though they are invasive, they do look and smell lovely. I managed to get back to the car without getting lost, which is a feat in itself.
