A father can wish evil for his children, except that father is not a good father. We have a Father that wants the less than the best for us, far better than even what our earthly fathers and mothers want for us.
Matthew 7:11
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
We are getting it wrong when we have a mindset that God wants evil for us. God is always mindful of each and everyone of us that it led to the angels asking in the book of Psalms 8:4, "what is man that you are so mindful of Him?" It is the enemy who wants evil to befall us and not God.
If we are opportune to have our eyes open spiritually to the arrows that is flinging up and down then we'll be convinced that if it were not by the grace of God, His mercy, and His love for us we'd all have been consumed. Though we may not see it, God is actually keeping and shielding us from evil.
