For today's blog, we're going to walk from home to the municipality of our place- kidding aside, it's a bit far, so I'll take a tricycle to get there without hassle. I need to find financial assistance for my oath-taking expenses and I'm also looking for a dress, preferably a Filipiniana.
As usual, like the other times when I have an appointment somewhere far I wake up early to prepare and head out on time. I went out at exactly 7 AM after finishing my breakfast. Even though the Mayor's office doesn't open until 8 AM , I still left earlier so I'd have time to look for a dress.
This is the road we take everyday, especially when we're heading to class. It's much better now because it's summer, the soil is not muddy or slippery to walk on.
The hardest part comes during the rainy season. Aside from the mud, it's difficult to walk while the rain was pouring and the cover we have was the plastic from the fertilizer sacks my papa had used up in the farm. At that moment, we were thankful just to have plastic to cover up, because umbrella weren't really a thing. Poverty was the trend back then. But we were strong, durable kids, so we just said 'deadma' or ignore the rain. What mattered was that we could still get to school.
Thankfully, I arrived early, but I wasn't sure what to do first but since it was too early to submit my letter. I wandered around looking for a dress that will be comfortable to wear, and I ended up buying four black dresses.
After paying for them I decided to check if the Mayor's office was already open. I left the letter for Board Member as her secretary instructed. Sadly, the mayor wasn't there, so I'll need to come back another day.
Along my way to the market, if you notice the white truck, they're selling mangoes. They have both smaller ones and they have bigger ones. I bought half a kilo of the big and half of the small ones, and I paid ₱75.00.
This was the place where I waited for the tricycle to head home. The driver won't leave unless it's full of passengers, so I decided to roam around and buy muriatic acid and a shaver in the AM store.
I met my high school teacher- let's call her ma'am C. She asked me, 'how you doing? ' have you found work yet?' I told her, 'none yet, ma'am but I'm trying to find one', and she said that's good. And she asked something silly: if I had a boyfriend. I told her,'none either, ma'am,'😁. We said goodbye, and she said, ' but you're attractive huh?', while grinning. Well, she's always been a funny mentor.
And after buying things, I looked for bread to bring home. And there I met another close high school teacher- Ma'am M. She was like a mother to me at school to entrust us with things for our class. We talked about me passing the board exam, and she gave tips on how to get through this journey. Ma'am M advised me to look for nearby private schools that are hiring so I can gain experience and avoid spending too much money applying for work that's far away After our talk, we parted ways.
I took a photo of the standee/man on the props because it looked like he was giving up after the long, tiring journey of standing by the road.
And finally, I left the Municipality and passed by the barrio where my school and old job were located.
After the tricycle ride, I still hadn't arrived home yet. There was still a 20-30 minute walk ahead. It was around 10 AM and the sun is shining brightly. I took a short break under this mango tree to freshen up and breathe in some fresh air.
After walking a bit more, I could see the path near the house. It was a tiring walk, but a productive one.
