George Town
@ Penang Island, Malaysia.
Eight years ago when my first travel out of the country, my destination was to Thailand. Since then I dreamed to go to other countries that I have never been... My dream came true, after I've been to Thailand for a few times, fortunately, I got a chance to travel out more. I have been once to Cambodia, Vietnam, Bali Indonesia, Hong Kong, and a few times to Singapore, and now this is my first time to Malaysia. Another new country for me to visit...
On this trip, we went to Penang Island. The island has also been known as the Pearl of the Orient. We stayed first at the beach resort, Parkroyal Penang Resort for three nights. As I said in my "Relaxing Moment Post" we enjoyed the sea viewing and relaxed at poolside. At night we went to a seafood restaurant where seafood is alive and fresh. Of course, I had my favorite one, oh la crabs. Lol
We wanted to look around the City. So we went to George town, the capital city of the Malaysian state of Penang... We stayed at the colonial-style hotel called Easter & Oriental Hotel, popularly known as E&O Hotel. It's 30 minutes drive from the resort where we stayed and about 30 minutes drive to Airport as well. Depends on traffic though... The hotel is big and great. The first photo was taken on the back side of the hotel. Wide space to walk and embrace the fresh air from the sea. Beautiful sea-fronting! We got the room where we can view half of the city with sea view... Very nice!
On the top, they have a restaurant where you can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner outdoor. Another side is the swimming pool. Infinity pool looking. We didn't swim though, cuz we stayed only for two nights and the whole two days we were walking around the City. At night we just rest. Lol
Walking around in the city is very convenient from our hotel. We wanted to try to ride the Trishaw around, so we did. In Philippines we have like this called Padyak. The difference is the driver driving in front of it, instead of at the back like trishaw. We enjoyed wandering around to those historical streets. Lot of bars, restaurant, small hotels, coffee shops, temples and we went to little Indian street and Chinese street, a lot of shops.
We went to Upside Down Museum. Look at my picture, am looking like spider woman on that stairs. Lol. This one of the famous attractions in town. When we went there we waited for about 10 minutes to get in. But the good thing is they don't let all people inside at one time. Group by group, first come first in. So it wasn't crowded inside and they got these people who will tell you what to pose and will take a photo of you.
During our trishaw rides, I saw this The Book Restaurant, around the Street Art. I found it very unique to that old building and book in a name. We didn't go inside though, I just asked the trishaw driver to stop cuz I wanted to take a photo of it. I think they got everything on the menu. Such as meat, seafood, pasta, sandwich, coffee etc...
Did you know?
