Have you heard of phenomenon named Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA that is probably going to be the talk of the league for the next decade? He is one of the tallest men to have ever played basketball at 7"6 inches and has a skillset never seen before for a man his size. He is still only 22 which is where the story begins in this write-up.
Very much liked by the NBA media and much of casual basketball fans for his composure and disciplined mindset, A few days ago he faced his first real negative media publicity for elbowing an opponent, Naz Reid of the Minnesota Timberwolves during game 4 of their playoff encounter. He was immediately ejected from the game following the incident and many expected further disciplinary actions by way of possible suspensions and a fine.
As quite a few predicted, there was no further suspensions for Wemby after the ejection, but what was surprising to most is that there was no fine either. The NBA decided to take no further actions on the superstar. Even as outraged many would've felt, the decision was me with nothing more than muffled grumbles and scoffs. Truth is most people were okay with the decision because Wemby is an attraction that people want to see.
The power of privilege is real. Sometimes it may be due to natural endowments like 'pretty privilege' while sometimes it is paid by sacrifice. Either ways it is one part of being an adult we get to quickly realize, and eventually accept. If you're at the receiving end then working it to your best advantage is the obvious choice.
