There are different kinds of pets in the world that can be very close companions of man. Though they are animals yet they can be so close and loving. I want want to talk about my own kind of pet.
If I am to keep a pet I would love to keep a dog. Before I go further, let's know what a dog is. According to Oxford dictionary a dog is an animal member of the genus Canis (probably descended from the common wolf) that has been domesticated for thousands of years; occurs in many breeds. Scientific name: Canis lupus familiaris. So a dog is somehow traceable to the family of wolves but it had become a domestic animal living at home with man, even though it still has some of its family's potentials yet it can be so loving and nice to its owner .
My reasons for choosing dog as a pet
Below are the reasons why I would prefer to have a dog as a pet rather than any other animal.
1 . Dogs are loyal: of all the pets in the world I have rarely seen any pet that can be so faithful to it owner like a dog. No matter how fierce a dog might be once the owner gives it an order it quickly honors it. What a good attribute, even humans hardly pay allegiance to their loved ones but here is an animal who is willing to lay down even it's life to honor it master's voice. Those of you that have dogs in your houses you would bear me witness with this one, when a visitor comes to your house and your dog starts to bark at the person, immediately you say stop. The dog begins to calm down and if the dog is misbehaving and the master orders it to stop the dog no matter how eager it is to get that thing just to please it owner though some dogs are stubborn but when they are being scolded or beaten they immediately adjust to normal. I have not kept any pet before but from what have been seeing honestly just this attribute is enough for me to like that animal. I love things that are teachable.
2 . Digs are friendly to their owners: no matter how stubborn a dog is, once it is around it owner, it is usually very friendly, though it might be harsh with others but it seems it sees owner as a family and would never in it's normal sense harm it owner no matter what. I have seen a case where a dog is to be sold. The owner took it to a dog market and left it there with the sellers . Unfortunately no one bought the dog that day , but something happened in the evening the chains on the dogs neck needed to be changed so the owner can take it home and bring it back the following day, guess what? The boys who change the chains tried to remove the previous chain from the dog but it went so fierce that no one near the dog but when the owner came and touched the dog instantly it calm down and the owner changed the chain. That is friendship a dog never believes that it owner can harm it.
3 . Dogs are child friendly: I remembered a day a saw a child and their dog playing. Left to me I think dogs sees human children as their own as well. Leave a dog and a child at home you would be surprised how that dog would play with that child and see it as it fellow animal. Dog's caring attitude is similar to that of a mother and her child. This animal has plenty of human attributes. It is amazing. A child can put his hand in a dogs mouth and the dog would not bit the child but when an elderly person tries that the dog can react. Dogs recognize children as children and their vulnerability. That is awesome.
4 . Dogs are intelligent and smart: depending on how you train a dog. Dogs are smart and intelligent they can learn and adjust to whatever they are taught. Dogs can hear human languages, but they are deprived of ability to speak back. So depending on how you train your dog it can respond to whatever you ask it to do if you train it in that manner. They can do many smart things, dogs can be trained to race competition and other sports. Dogs can open doors in a house if trained. Dog can also prank people by scaring them in a playful manner just to see their reaction, what a great level of intelligence. I really love that creature.
5 . Dogs are affectionate: dogs have ability to feel for humans. They can love and care for their owners. They take their owners as part of them such that a dog can be worried when his owner is sad and be happy when his owner is happy. Dogs can also be good friend which one can gist with the only problem is that they can't talk back. They are pets that can follow you everywhere you go and be like a friend rather than an animal.
6 . Security: apart from love and the company one can get from a dog, a dog is also a soldier. It is a security to the house of the owner. A dog sees every outsider except the ones he is acquainted with as criminals. Dog being a family of the wolf can attack and bit any one that dared intrude into his territory. It can bark also at any unusual movement it sense around their home to alert it owner about danger.
Left to be, I will advise every one in the world to keep dogs as pets. Ha! Ha! Ha! 😁😁 It is just an opinion . Do it and thank me later.😊
7 . Dogs are easy to train and raise: dogs are not animals that require you to spend a lot to feed. It can eat the same kind of food you eat. So you don't have to bother yourself in going to look for meals like for other pets. Just whatever you eat your dog is considerate to eat it with you. And for the puppies it can be frustrating at the beginning I know but as soon as it get conversant with you that is all. Raising and training a dog doesn't cost a lot if you care for it well. I have been with people that keep dogs and their testimonies can't be false I believe
In conclusion, honestly time and space would not permit me to type all the reasons why I love dogs and choose them as my pets. The above are only but few. seriously my love for dogs is huge and I think I am really going to get one soon. I think this creature can fill up some spaces in our lives that we give to aome people and in return get hurt. Dog can never hurt you rather are always honest and loyal to you all the time.
