From school down to our homes, we are taught that addiction is bad. We grew up and also found ourselves struggling with certain negative acts; we used all the strategies we knew to fight them, but they remained unchanged.
We see how people around us become attached to hard drugs, alcohol, and so on, which take all their resources and make their lives miserable.
Truly, it is not a lie that addiction can be really disastrous when one applies it to the wrong things.
It's crazy how addiction is neutral and doesn't force itself on people like some kind of supernatural force.
Addiction is self-built; every human out attached to something, whether in the wrong way or a good way was a result of a continuous repetition of that thing, whether intentionally or not.
Prior to this time, I thought everything about addiction was bad because I grew up in an environment where people drank and made a mess of their lives.
I watch some of them break down in tears when encouraged to stop the act, but it doesn't take long until they return to it as though their lives were tied to it.
I know how many young people are mentally ill as a result of drug addiction in my place.
Seeing those cases and also being taught and cautioned about negative addiction in school, my mind was forced to identify more with negative addiction rather than the positive.
Who even talks more about positive addiction? People barely talk about how we can take advantage of addiction on good things for our good.
If you check it closely, our society focuses more on negative things than on positives. People can hype disaster, chaos, misfortune, and so on, but when it comes to being positive, the energy is less.
Talking about good addiction, I think, when we are attached to something productive in a balanced way, such that it doesn't cause us or others harm, it is a good addiction.
For instance, being a man or woman who is used to telling the truth that they can not lie, no matter the circumstance, that's a good addiction.
Another example is being addicted to chasing our goals or dreams in the right way, and not neglecting our health to suffer in the process, is also a good addiction.
One thing most people don't understand is that, without good addiction, we can not achieve much. Unless we get to that point where we are so passionate about our desires and we chase them as if our lives depend on it, we may not achieve them.
I woke up one morning, and I was feeling like a part of me was missing. I reviewed my activities, and I discovered that I had eaten, worked out, and was at work, but one thing was missing: I didn't write, and the reason was that my phone was low due to a power challenge.
I remained restless until I charged my phone and wrote an article. For me, that kind of addiction is good because it spurs me to grow.

Addiction is a very powerful weapon, and it can either be good or bad depending on what we decide to build it upon. One little act, done repeatedly, builds addiction. The choice is always ours to make.
