The sky darkened and I left the house in a hurry to the bus stop on my way to the town where my mother's grave is. The road was long and tedious, but that didn't matter, I almost never go to visit her and on the day of the dead I couldn't miss my presence and my purple flowers. When I arrived in town, I got off the bus and felt as lonely as I had never felt before, I tried to breathe deeply, although the air felt heavy. When I arrived at my mother's grave, I noticed that there was no sign of anyone visiting her deceased. The cemetery seemed to have no caretaker, everything was in ruins and some tombstones were about to collapse, I was terrified of finding a skeleton.
I concentrated only on my visit, on the moments I lived with my mother, on those afternoons when we drank coffee while watching the novel, I also remembered the day of her tragic death and the pain of knowing that I could never hear her last words. In the meantime thinking I did not realize that the night caught me, it was so dark that it was a good time to run, then I thought that if I ran through the forest I would shorten the path that led me to the bus stop and thus reach the last shift. After I had run longer than expected I started to worry.
Without having any idea where I was, I saw a magical and cozy place in the distance, then I thought: "Oh this is amazing! There's a house that looks like it's made of coffee, and it smells like freshly brewed coffee, there's probably a big fireplace inside. I'd love to go inside and relax for a while, and maybe even have a cup of coffee." But an inner voice made me think about how scary it could be to find such a magical place in the middle of the forest. In any case, I decided to enter the coffee house and experience an exciting adventure, I was sure I would love to taste the coffee there and discover what secrets the house was hiding.
The door was ajar, even so, I decided to ring the doorbell several times and with a quick glance it seemed that there was no one there, no audible sound except the crackling of the fire. Could it be a very quiet and mysterious place, I wondered. And without so much waiting I entered the coffee house, being inside the first thing I saw was a table full of coffee cakes and a cup of coffee in front of me.
There was a staircase leading to a second floor. I went up the stairs and saw that there was a table in the center of the room with a coffee pot making coffee on it and next to it an old woman drying dishes. -Welcome young lady," she said to me without my being able to utter a word. The old woman asked me to sit on a chair. And then she asked me: -Are you lost? - Yes, madam. I am looking for the way to the bus stop. Can you help me, I answered, -Oh, don't worry, you can camp here for the night. But first, would you like to have a cup of coffee and a coffee cake? -Sure, ma'am. Thank you very much. - You're welcome, my child. Sit down and get some rest. I'll get your coffee.
The woman did not look well, I was horrified to see her dressed in old rags and her house full of old portraits, and I was definitely in her house, alone, lost and waiting for a drink from her, there was no doubt that I was in big trouble. After a few seconds the woman told me she was going to get some sleep and if I needed anything, to look for her.
A few seconds after the old woman left, I took a sip of coffee and did not hesitate to run towards the exit to escape, however, at that instant everything went dark and whatever exit there was was closed. Slowly, my eyes became accustomed to the darkness and as I looked up I saw the same old hooded woman sitting in a chair at the other end of the table I was at. She was covered in scratches and asked me, "Are you ready for Halloween Horror Night?". I closed my eyes and screamed this is a dream, wake up, wake up.
After a few attempts to escape she caught me and dragged me into a dark room. There was no doubt that I let myself be fooled and I was trapped in the house of coffee and terror. On the verge of losing consciousness I heard a noise and saw a glowing light outside the room. It said: -monster from hell you are not allowed to attack my daughter. The door opened and a woman in a white robe came in, it was my mother who came out of her grave to save me.
The old woman ran out of the house in terror. As my mother came over to help me. "Are you all right?" she asked. I nodded and looked at her with watery eyes, holding back the urge to run hug her. She just said to me. "Thank you my girl for your visit, don't forget to come and see me". We stared at each other for a moment and then she left. I stood there, stunned, trying to process what I had just witnessed. I finally left the house, carrying some coffee samples that were everywhere in the house, never to forget what happened and so Halloween night was over, but I learned a valuable lesson: you are never alone. A mother is there to help you, even if she is dead.
