Nuevamente me presento en esta semana 188 en el festival colmena musical. Con gran cariño interpreto para todos ustedes un tema que me parece sumamente interesante de nuestro querido amigo número uno de la canta criolla, Don Reynaldo Armas. Es una pieza que siempre me gustó, pero que anteriormente no cantaba en mis presentaciones. Digamos que, irónicamente, en esos tiempos cuando me la pasaba parrandón tras parrandón y trabajando de lleno con la música, nunca la incluía en el repertorio. Cuando se presentaba la oportunidad de cantar con un conjunto de música llanera en vivo, prefería dejarla a un lado porque sentía que había partes altas a las que simplemente no le llegaba en el tono original.	Once again I present myself in this week 188 at the musical hive festival. With great affection, I perform for all of you a track that I find highly interesting by our beloved number one artist of traditional Venezuelan music, Don Reynaldo Armas. It is a piece that I have always liked, but previously did not sing in my performances. Ironically, back in those days when I spent my time going from one party to another and working fully in music, I never included it in my repertoire. When the opportunity arose to sing live with a llanera music ensemble, I preferred to set it aside because I felt there were high parts that I simply couldn't reach in the original key.

Nuevamente me presento en esta semana 188 en el festival colmena musical. Con gran cariño interpreto para todos ustedes un tema que me parece sumamente interesante de nuestro querido amigo número uno de la canta criolla, Don Reynaldo Armas. Es una pieza que siempre me gustó, pero que anteriormente no cantaba en mis presentaciones. Digamos que, irónicamente, en esos tiempos cuando me la pasaba parrandón tras parrandón y trabajando de lleno con la música, nunca la incluía en el repertorio. Cuando se presentaba la oportunidad de cantar con un conjunto de música llanera en vivo, prefería dejarla a un lado porque sentía que había partes altas a las que simplemente no le llegaba en el tono original.

Once again I present myself in this week 188 at the musical hive festival. With great affection, I perform for all of you a track that I find highly interesting by our beloved number one artist of traditional Venezuelan music, Don Reynaldo Armas. It is a piece that I have always liked, but previously did not sing in my performances. Ironically, back in those days when I spent my time going from one party to another and working fully in music, I never included it in my repertoire. Hoy día, a pesar de que han pasado los años —y bueno, los años pegan, como bien dice el dicho popular— pensé que menos le llegaría a esas notas. Sin embargo, estaba completamente equivocado. Resulta que ahora se me hace bastante fácil cantar en el tono original en el que fue grabado este tema. Me imagino que la experiencia acumulada y la práctica constante me han aclarado la garganta. Esto es algo curioso, ya que suele ocurrir de manera contraria en algunos amigos músicos que, a medida que se acercan a la tercera edad, se ven en la obligación de bajar los tonos originales de las canciones para poder interpretarlas.	Nowadays, despite the years that have gone by —and well, age takes its toll, as the popular saying goes— I thought I would be even less able to reach those notes. However, I was completely mistaken. It turns out that now it is quite easy for me to sing in the original key in which it was recorded. I imagine that the accumulated experience and constant practice have cleared my throat. This is a curious thing, as it usually happens the other way around for some musician friends who, as they approach old age, find themselves forced to lower the original keys of songs to be able to perform them.

Hoy día, a pesar de que han pasado los años —y bueno, los años pegan, como bien dice el dicho popular— pensé que menos le llegaría a esas notas. Sin embargo, estaba completamente equivocado. Resulta que ahora se me hace bastante fácil cantar en el tono original en el que fue grabado este tema. Me imagino que la experiencia acumulada y la práctica constante me han aclarado la garganta. Esto es algo curioso, ya que suele ocurrir de manera contraria en algunos amigos músicos que, a medida que se acercan a la tercera edad, se ven en la obligación de bajar los tonos originales de las canciones para poder interpretarlas.

Por esta razón, me siento profundamente agradecido con la vida y con el creador, porque ahora puedo disfrutar plenamente de cantar. Aunque hoy día no me dedico a la música para vivir de ella, como sí lo hice firmemente en los tiempos cuando tenía entre 25 y 40 años, sigo manteniendo la misma pasión de siempre. La razón de este cambio es muy sencilla y todos la conocen: la situación actual de nuestro país nos obliga a enfocarnos estrictamente en lo indispensable y lo imprescindible. Cada movimiento que uno hace para salir a un lugar o presentarse representa un gasto considerable, y actualmente vivimos, como quien dice en el llano, con la cabuya cortiquita.	For this reason, I feel deeply grateful to life and the creator, because now I can fully enjoy singing. Although nowadays I do not dedicate myself to music to make a living, as I firmly did back when I was between 25 and 40 years old, I still maintain the same lifelong passion. The reason for this change is very simple and everyone knows it: the current situation of our country forces us to focus strictly on what is indispensable and essential. Every move one makes to go out somewhere or perform represents a considerable expense, and currently we live, as they say in the plains, on a very tight budget.

Por esta razón, me siento profundamente agradecido con la vida y con el creador, porque ahora puedo disfrutar plenamente de cantar. Aunque hoy día no me dedico a la música para vivir de ella, como sí lo hice firmemente en los tiempos cuando tenía entre 25 y 40 años, sigo manteniendo la misma pasión de siempre. La razón de este cambio es muy sencilla y todos la conocen: la situación actual de nuestro país nos obliga a enfocarnos estrictamente en lo indispensable y lo imprescindible. Cada movimiento que uno hace para salir a un lugar o presentarse representa un gasto considerable, y actualmente vivimos, como quien dice en el llano, con la cabuya cortiquita.

For this reason, I feel deeply grateful to life and the creator, because now I can fully enjoy singing. Although nowadays I do not dedicate myself to music to make a living, as I firmly did back when I was between 25 and 40 years old, I still maintain the same lifelong passion. The reason for this change is very simple and everyone knows it: the current situation of our country forces us to focus strictly on what is indispensable and essential. Every move one makes to go out somewhere or perform represents a considerable expense, and currently we live, as they say in the plains, on a very tight budget.
