The other day, I overslept and missed #ShitpostSunday. I felt a bit bad about it, but I figured I still wanted to put in some ridiculous post. Whether you would find it interesting is another thing.
It's been a long time since I did my Blockchain Walk series. It's a series where I walk slower than someone you all know. Since I have been on the platform for over 19 months, it's time to show you some more things I have seen around here.
The "how much money has
given to SDL" Indicator
Yup, at least that much. It still baffles me that this person continues to scrounge every STEEM they could get their hands on. I mean, is it worth it, especially when STEEM is around $0.14? Would it not be easier to buy it at the current price?
Oh, their page is a riot too. I realized that they claimed credit each time we have had some woes on the chain. I can no longer tell at what point it becomes sad instead of hilarious.
Flag Wars Continued
At what point, is one group telling another to stop "circlejerking" becomes ironic? I get that some large stakeholders have been unkind to the overall populace of Steem. At the same time, what differentiates a circlejerk and supporting your "friends"? Is it the dollar value? Or, is it the members comprised of that said circlejerk?
Regardless, I don't know if it's possible to restore "proof of brain". That is, if it ever existed in the first place. Speaking of proof of brain...
Proof of Click
Let's be honest, how many people love to "curate"? I would imagine most do not. Hence, we have all sorts of automated options to maximize rewards. It's so much easier to follow a small group of authors and upvote them at 100% for about 10 times a day. Across multiple accounts, even.
Hell, I do the same thing on Whaleshares. I don't care enough to branch out and increase my reading time. It's sad, but it's true. The reward aspect of the platform has incentives for people doing the opposite of proof of brain.
It's always about how to maximize the use of their voting power. Then, the next step is up their curation rewards game. Being social has nothing to do with anything.
Mingling Off-chain
Let's be honest, again, most of the interactions on this chain is...well, not on the blockchain. Steem is one of those social media outlets that don't have social media functions.
Or, are those features supposed to come through community efforts? You know, it's "open source" and all, despite STINC being the gatekeepers to changes.
I don't dislike it, but it seems lackluster. Imagine having to interact with Facebook communities through Discord. Yes, we have all heard how SMTs, etc. will bring forth those long-waited features. When will it become a reality? Who knows?
At the end of the day, we are all spending time here. For better or worse, the drama is worth it.
