Greetings one and all,
Today is my Birthday and alas. I am on my own.
So far, it's been 36 years on this crazy journey called life. This is my first Birthday on my own, I'm having to travel but such is life.
Random pictures of me taking my car for a ride 😝😁
I hope that you are all having a great time and wonderful start to the week.
This post will be a bit different and is inspired by and their "Three Wishes" post.
Three Wishes:
I'll try to make this doable or something that I'd like to see in my life
➲ Wish 1: Iraq projects.
Funding for the Aid/Education projects that I run in Iraq, Turkey and hopefully in Syria once again. Despite the success of such projects, I get no support from the UK. Promoting STEM education and WISE is not the objective of UK Gov but instead, they are promoting Shakespeare in Iraq (not sh*tting you there)
This year, I am hoping to link several universities from the UK and US with Turkey and Iraq. Long term goal is to get them working together with projects and supporting STEM in those countries.
As some will remember, I was a Combat Medic (CMT) in the Army, I was also a PMC. Without getting into the rights or wrongs about the Iraq Way, I just want to see long term stability return to the region. Instead of posting memes online and acting like an edgelord, I got off my arse and did what I could do. This has really damaged my career but at times, men of good conscience can no longer sit back and do nothing. But, I cannot indefinitely work as long as I have with no support.
➲ Wish 2: Improved Interpersonal Skills
A greater understanding of Interpersonal Skills AKA Emotional Intelligence! I know, I know some of you will be laughing, as I was when I first heard of the topic. However, Books like "Working with Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman" and Many of those written by Dale Carnegie opened my mind to an area of my life that I was failing in. Although I use to work at Director level, with an Aerospace Engineering background, the way I spoke to people and behaved was unintentionally wrong. I acted like a typical Engineer, facts mattered more than people. Looking back, I was a fool and I regret this very deeply.
If you can then either read "Working with Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman" and/or Dale Carnegie's "How to make friends and influence people" this may very well change your life, but it will take time.
It's easy to sit in the corner and think that everyone else is an A-hole but its difficult to reflect upon the situation and see fault within. So, I would very much like for people to learn how to get on better with others, doesn't mean we all can be friends but at least how to interact in a civil manner.
These skills also helped me to deal with my anxieties and to achieve my potential, I wish for you all to be able to achieve your potential and achieve your dreams. We all have greatness within but it's easy to lose site of that in this current age.
➲ Wish 3: Conquer Space
MY final wish is this, to see humanity propely colonize our Solar System and to do so in my lifetime. Not when I am an absoltuely ancient man (well 36 is getting close to ancient) but for governments to once again push humanity out with LEO and into the solar system. The benifets are endless, from resources to living space, from new technologies and even new economic models.
In the 60's we landed on the Moon, since then we've faffed around in Orbit. We must either grow or die, and I very much hope that we grow...
You can see a quick video of a project that I worked on with colleagues from NASA in the video below
