¡Hola amigos de la comunidad de Hive Argentina! Es un placer saludarlos y venir a participar de una propuesta tan linda como lo es hablar de libros. A mí que me apasiona leer se siente como abrir una ventana al alma de mi interior.
Si hablamos de aquel libro que fue un antes y un después en mi vida tengo que mencionar a la saga Crepúsculo. En sí ya me gustaba leer desde niña, pero era una negada y ser lectora no era cool. En la escuela todos odiaban leer, así que para mí era una cuestión de imitarlos y decir que tampoco me gustaba, renegaba de los libros que nos hacían leer en clases, y demás, pero en secreto los disfrutaba.
En el 2010, cuando tenía 17 años, me hice fan de las películas de Crepúsculo que iban estrenando, hasta que me puse a investigar y vi que estaban basadas en libros. Así que los busqué, los encontré y los descargué, todo muy legal (no). No sé ni cómo porque hasta ese momento nunca había descargado ningún libro, esa también fue la ventana a un mundo mucho más amplio. Me devoré el primero y pase al segundo, y así hasta terminar la saga completa. Se lo comente a una compañera de la escuela y me regaló el primer libro en físico, después adquirí los demás, y compré muchos más. Crepúsculo fue la llave que desbloqueo esta pasión por los libros que tengo y siempre tendrá un lugar especial en mi corazón.
Con respecto a mi género literario favorito, para sorpresa de nadie, tengo que decir que es la fantasía y los romances en general. Son los géneros que más suelo leer, pero entre el año pasado y este empecé a tomarle el gusto a los thrillers también. Aunque, en general, leo de todo un poco. Incluso poesía que es un género con el que no suelo conectar tanto, pero cada tanto doy con unos versos exactos que me hacen amarlos.
El mes del libro justo coincide con la apertura de la Feria Internacional del Libro de Buenos Aires. Así que mi manera de celebrarlos es leer, e ir a la feria para estar rodeada de ellos y de muchas otras personas que también aman la lectura. Bien dicen por ahí que el paraíso debe de ser algún lugar lleno de libros. Los stand que más me gustan visitar son aquellos que ofrecen alguna decoración interesante y donde están los libros que más me gustan. Pero también disfruto un montón de las editoriales pequeñas que publican a autores nacionales, siempre les compro algo a ellas porque hay que apoyar lo nacional y son más económicos también. Aparte de que terminó consiguiendo joyitas poco conocidas, no tenemos nada que envidiarles a los escritores internacionales, también tenemos con qué competirles.
Y, por último, sí, conocí a varios autores de libros que leí en la misma feria de las que les hablé. Autoras como Cecelia Ahern que escribe romances o autores como Dan Wells que fueron muy cálidos, de mis visitas favoritas en la feria. Pero también conocí, y sigo en contacto, con escritores independientes nacionales, incluso soy amiga de algunos de ellos. Nada como conocer a los autores que escribieron aquellas historias que tanto amamos.
Esta es la manera ideal de celebrar el día del libro, leyendo y siendo feliz cada vez que te sumerges en una nueva historia, o cuando volves a reencontrarte en una que ya conoces muy bien.

Hello, friends of the Hive Argentina community! It’s a pleasure to greet you all and join in on such a wonderful discussion about books. As someone who loves to read, it feels like opening a window into my inner soul.
If we're talking about the book that marked a turning point in my life, I have to mention the Twilight series. I'd always liked reading since I was a kid, but I was terrible at it, and being a reader just wasn't cool. At school, everyone hated reading, so for me it was just a matter of going along with them and saying I didn’t like it either. I would complain about the books they made us read in class and all that, but secretly I enjoyed them.
In 2010, when I was 17, I became a fan of the Twilight movies as they were coming out, until I started doing some research and realized they were based on books. So I looked for them, found them, and downloaded them—all completely legal (not). I don’t even know how I did it, because up until then I had never downloaded a book; that was also my gateway to a much wider world. I devoured the first one and moved on to the second, and so on until I finished the entire series. I mentioned it to a classmate, and she gave me a physical copy of the first book; later, I bought the rest, and I bought many more. Twilight was the key that unlocked my passion for books, and it will always have a special place in my heart.
As for my favorite literary genre, to no one’s surprise, I have to say it’s fantasy and romance in general. Those are the genres I read most often, but between last year and this year I’ve also started to develop a taste for thrillers. Although, in general, I read a little bit of everything—including poetry, which is a genre I don’t usually connect with that much, but every now and then I come across some verses that really speak to me and make me love them.
Book Month coincides with the opening of the Buenos Aires International Book Fair. So my way of celebrating is to read and go to the fair to be surrounded by books and by many other people who also love reading. As they say, paradise must be a place full of books. The booths I like to visit the most are the ones with interesting displays and where my favorite books are. But I also really enjoy the small publishers that feature local authors; I always buy something from them because we need to support local businesses, and they’re more affordable too. Besides the fact that I end up finding little-known gems, we have nothing to envy in international writers—we’ve got what it takes to compete with them.
And finally, yes, I met several authors of books I’d read at the very same book fair I told you about. Authors like Cecelia Ahern, who writes romance novels, and authors like Dan Wells, who were all so warm—they were among my favorite encounters at the fair. But I also met, and still keep in touch with, independent local writers; in fact, I’m friends with some of them. There’s nothing quite like meeting the authors who wrote the stories we love so much.
This is the perfect way to celebrate Book Day—by reading and finding joy every time you dive into a new story, or when you revisit one you already know so well.
