I would have sworn,
That I was a ghost,
Strolling down the street at dusk,
If for the unspoken chaos that lurked,
Or the failed future of them that loomed.
On this side of the road,
Their past,
On that side was their future,
All playing before them,
But it's a circle,
The I guess only me saw.
On this side were the lovers,
Lurking in the shades,
Near gutters,
On that side were toddlers,
Ownerless, unkempt and ragged up,
On this side the drunkard,
Raining fists on the now innocent woman,
On that side the mothers,
In shanties,
Near the gutters.
The empty promises,
Of short Lust's burst,
Another bag flies out the marriage door,
This night, their future and past speaks.
