Another sign that Spring time is not far away, the first sighting of American Robins. The ornamental tree planted in my backyard specifically attracts American Robins in the early spring.
The ground is still mostly covered by snow. And the ground has been frozen for a long time. The worms and bugs that the American Robins normally eat are not available in the area yet. But the tree in my backyard has fruit that has been ripening during the winter. The ripened fruit sustains the American Robins until other food sources are plentiful.
