La autora en su novela expone una clara crítica a la sociedad de la época, utilizando un estilo irónico y satírico, sin dejar de ser elegante, que atrapa al lector. Todo comienza con la llegada de un joven rico a la vecindad de la familia Bennet, Charles Bingley. De inmediato vemos como la madre de las chicas, y varias de otras señoras mayores, intentan “cazarlo” para presentarles a sus hijas. Rico, guapo e inteligente, se convierte en el foco de muchas esperanzas femeninas. Mediante este complejo cuadro de la vida cotidiana de las mujeres, Jane Austen comienza su crítica a la posición de la mujer en la sociedad. La vulnerabilidad económica, la dependencia hacia la vida doméstica y la estricta moralidad que las condena por el más mínimo error, se expone en este libro.
In her novel, the author offers a clear critique of the society of the time, using an ironic and satirical style that is nonetheless elegant and captivates the reader. It all begins with the arrival of a wealthy young man, Charles Bingley, to the Bennet family's neighborhood. We immediately see how the girls' mother and several other older ladies try to “snare” him in order to introduce him to their daughters. Rich, handsome, and intelligent, he becomes the focus of many women's hopes. Through this complex picture of women's daily lives, Jane Austen begins her critique of the position of women in society. Economic vulnerability, dependence on domestic life, and the strict morality that condemns them for the slightest mistake are exposed in this book.
Poco pasa hasta que entra en la trama el señor Darcy, amigo de Bingley, que representa el orgullo de su clase alta y “superior”. Este personaje, complejo y con una clara evolución en el libro, se ve en el dilema de aceptar el amor que siente por Elizabeth Bennet y los prejuicios sociales, que la consideran inferior a su estatus. No obstante, no solo se reduce a esto sino que la joven al principio se siente ofendida por la arrogancia y el orgullo de Darcy y no está dispuesta a aceptar nada que venga de él. Un embrollo muy bien presentado, donde vemos la lucha entre el amor, el deber y los prejuicios sociales.
It is not long before Mr. Darcy, Bingley's friend, enters the plot, representing the pride of his upper class and “superiority.” This complex character, who clearly evolves throughout the book, finds himself in the dilemma of accepting his love for Elizabeth Bennet and the social prejudices that consider her inferior to his status. However, it is not just limited to this, as the young woman is initially offended by Darcy's arrogance and pride and is unwilling to accept anything from him. A very well-presented mess, where we see the struggle between love, duty, and social prejudice.
Los personajes están muy bien estudiados y tienen una evolución clara en la trama. La relación entre Elizabeth y Darcy es emocionante y ofrece una visión profunda de la naturaleza humana. Tiene al lector en vilo hasta el final, con una serie de malentendidos e intrigas de otros personajes que parecen alejarlos cada vez más. El final es satisfactorio y llega a la profundidad del alma.
The characters are very well developed and evolve clearly throughout the plot. The relationship between Elizabeth and Darcy is exciting and offers a profound insight into human nature. It keeps the reader in suspense until the end, with a series of misunderstandings and intrigues involving other characters that seem to drive them further and further apart. The ending is satisfying and touches the soul.
