I woke up and found this. Sam was peeking outside our unit’s window where he seems to be checking on how other people go about their day.
As I secretly took his photo, I realized how much my life got better when I started having dogs.
I’ve been caring for dogs for over 15 years, dealt with losses as they grow old and fade away, but the journey I had with all of them was immensely incomparable. I had pure joy and never was there a dull moment with each and every one of them. If you have a canine friend, you’ll know what I mean.
For those who plan to own a dog, I strongly encourage you to do so. Life with them is so ideal, they will uplift you spiritually, mentally and physically.
Here are the few advantages that you may want to look at and see how your future pet can make your life better.
Comforting. Dogs are like sedatives. They can calm you down and helps you deal better with stress. They have the ability to sense changes on your moods. And if they feel that you are tensed, they would immediately provide you with love and affection. A simple “tail wagging” trick can snap you out of your misery.
Better Health. This is Sam and Sofia’s (my dogs) favorite. They definitely love it when I stay on track with my fitness. They just love their walkies! As a good dog owner, walking your pooch daily is a must. It keeps them fit, healthy and energetic. And this goes the same with your overall health.
Makes You Sociable. If you are like me, who works for long hours, having the time to socialize with other people can be very challenging. However, when you have dogs that you need to keep healthy, then, you’ll be forced to ditch your couch and hit the park for some walkies. Going out with your dogs will certainly bring you friends. People are drawn to them. And a quick walk in the park, with other dog owners around, will give you decent amounts of chitchats.
More Happiness. Most of the time, it only takes a poochy cuddle to make my day better. Experts say that connecting with dogs makes you release more Oxytocin (Happy Hormone). So, whether you feel you were thrown under the bus or seriously fighting depression, the best way to deal with it is having your fur friend to snuggle with.
Increase Your Dating Chances. You can call it a tricky trick, but yes, having a dog can get you dates! Get your pooch out, draw attention, then, start with a pet-related conversation. No more of those lame pickup lines from your sticky notes! Dogs simply can make you look approachable, friendly and trustworthy.
Genuine Friendship. This is the best part of having a dog, pure and honest relationship. And not a complicated one! They will remain as your loyal and loving companion for the rest of their lives.
Do you own a dog? Or planning to have one?
