Which Vegetables Are The Healthiest And Freshest?
The morning markets are where the locals come several times a week to make sure they have the freshest fruits, vegetables and the freshly caught fish from the sea. Unlike in western countries, where people buy from large super markets a few times a month, in Taiwan, people make several trips. It is not uncommon for families to come daily. For those visiting the Island of Taiwan, a morning stroll through a morning market will be a crash course in Island culture. Here you can visit with the farmers and other sellers and you know where your food comes from. If you want to really know Taiwan, explore the morning markets.
There are many reasons for visiting a morning market. Yes, the locals come for food, but they also come to shop the many other things that the market affords, like clothing, items for the home, and just odds and ends. Some of these small booths remind one of the small town variety stores and others could well be a dollar store.
There is also the fresh scent of home made and freshly cooked food to eat at the market or to take home. Tables filled with little eats or small snacks, freshly made noodles, sushi's, soups kitchens with several varieties of soup, dessert tables to drool over, and little sit down cafes are dotted throughout the market. .
Some days you may come home empty handed, with only a bright smile, and a fun and loving spirit. You will have just engaged yourself with the many sellers in different ways. The sellers are happy, talkative, and full of laughter. Their spirits are high as they shout out and yell to customers as they wander the market. Screaming can get quite loud as they each try to attract potential buyers.
And where does one go for a quick morning Taiwanese breakfast on the run? Why to the morning market, of course!
